Anyone going to Dover on Saturday?
« on: August 20, 2015, 09:02:34 AM »

Really want to go but it's too far to drive and the train is coming out at £88 return. Has anyone found a more cost effective way of getting there?

London Alty will be.

Javelin train from St Pancras, there in 56 minutes with some bottled ales. Splendid.

If I didn't live in the South East though it'd be a tough one. Glad to hear the lads are coming down Friday night.

Good luck, hopefully some others are driving and you can share petrol maybe?

Don't know where abouts in Shropshire your coming from but from Birmingham its £28.00 return to London using London Midland trains. London to Dover using the quick St Pancras line is £30 return so £58 for the journey from Birmingham assuming you don't have a railcard. That's based on leaving Birmignham at 9:15 and leaving London St Pancras at 12:12 arriving in Dover at 13:31. Don't know if that helps at all.

Ill be at the game with 2 others

I can't go because I'm working for the fourth weekend out of five, which conveniently deprives me of two of my "local" fixtures. Will be at the Tranmere game next week though.

Either Stoke or Stafford. Granted the £88 was for the non-stop Stafford to Euston and then the fast train to Dover from St Pancras. I'll do some more digging to see if I can find a better price.

Google Maps is saying it will be 4:05 to drive which to be honest is not too bad. I bet with traffic it could end up a lot longer than that though.

I will be going - live in the South East but actually Birmingham is nearer my home than Dover is.  Its over 2 hours from my house (Jnc 2 M40) so I would be sceptical about 4 hrs from Shropshire.

Dover can be done in 4hrs at a push, the darford crossing is the key and it can be better now its pay online
wouldnt bank on it though, was caught there the other week for 1hr 20

I'm going. Happens I'm at a wedding in London on the Sunday. I will be cutting it fine though, don't have much time to get from Dover Priory train station to the ground. Anyone know if its a straightforward stroll? Looks to be a bit of a distance on Google.

Thanks. I was thinking of M40 and then south round the M25 if I did drive so would avoid Dartford.

That's what I was thinking. Knowing my luck I'd get stuck in the worst traffic jam ever so would take a lot longer.
