Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Farsley Match Thread 2
« on: December 17, 2019, 11:29:30 PM »
Didn't think we dominated the game, but we certainly had the majority of possession. Heard a couple of people say after the game that we had loads of chances. I didn't think we did, in the first half a great move produced a decent chance for William's, but it wasn't a bad save by Wynne. After that I didn't think we created a great deal in normal time, apart from the goal, I dont remember Wynne being particularly overworked. He produced two great saves in the first period of extra time but again apart from the indirect free kick and hitting the bar, didn't think we created too many more clear cut chances in ET.
Didn't go to the game on Saturday, but you could see why people who did, rated their central defensive partnership, and overall they looked a decent team who were happy to soak up pressure and then hit us on the break. Indeed we could have been at least 2 down at half time given the chances they created.
One final point, that banging of the advertising hoardings ain't half annoying and personally always thought you have to be a bit simple to even  do that, pity the stewards couldn't have asked them to stop. Sorry if that's being a bit of a Scrooge!

Noticed Telford's FAT match v Leamington has been postponed today and rearranged for this Tuesday as per their Twitter account, meaning our match with them on Tuesday will have to be rearranged again.

Great hard working performance by Alty with in the end a deserved win. Thought Chester looked quite dangerous in the 1st half but in the 2nd they had the disallowed goal and really not much else, whilst we could quite easily had got 3 or 4 with all the chances we had.

As for what happened at half time, the stewards did what they could, but ultimately if a set of away fans decide they are going to jump the barriers, I really wouldn't expect the stewards to be putting themselves at risk. The behaviour of some Alty fans didn't help in goading them and of course 99% of them ran away at the first sign of trouble. However it was of course totally that group of Chester fans who were to blame. First time I've ever seen away fans do that.

It would be interesting to know why police weren't asked to be present for the 2nd half, though limited resources may have played  a part there, but certainly I find it strange why police weren't requested to be outside the ground at the end of the game. It was so obvious it was going to kick off and police didn't take long to arrive after there had been fighting, but a few police outside the ground would almost certainly had prevented any trouble. The stewards did come outside the ground after it had calmed down but again I don't think anyone would expect them to put themselves at risk. It was just a very poor decision to not get the police there at the end of the match, if it was the case a decision had been made not to call them.

Unfortunately it kicked off after the game today. Think it did also in their play off game v Nantwich

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Blyth Spartans Match Thread
« on: May 02, 2019, 08:06:53 PM »
There seems to be very little event management knowledge around the club, or at least a lack of willingness. It's always great to see a big crowd but I'd bet 90% of those that ran on the pitch at the end hadn't been to an Altrincham game all season, possibly never. Very few stewards outside the ground beforehand. None outside the ground after. The Blyth fans bus should have been drawn up the the Chequers end gate before the end of  the game so they didn't have to hang around waiting and risk the possibility of being verbally or physically abused by the clowns I saw approaching them on the corner of Golf Road.
Have to agree, after the game, with  the stewards knowing where the Blyth supporters coach was, one of them should have gone to it and then got the driver to come to the ground rather than leave the Blyth fans to wander around until they eventually found it. Going by what I heard this led to it kicking off near the Royal Mail depot. I also believe the coach eventually had to have a police escort out of Altrincham which is somewhat embarrassing if that was the case.

Police were inside the ground during the game, I saw them.
Unfortunately they weren't there though at the end of the game when they were needed.

What a game, couldn't see that equaliser coming with the way Blyth were defending. Great save from TT at 2 2 as well that would have been devastating to lose it that way. Brilliant spirit in the team and hope there's still something left in the tank for Chorley. On a sour note though I think the club have to think about asking for a police presence at these sort of games. There were a couple of groups of lads I had never seen before who were clearly trying to spark something off after the game and going by what i heard it did kick off near the Royal Mail depot where the Blyth supporters coach was parked with at least 3 police cars heading down Moss Lane to sort out the trouble. You can't expect volunteer stewards to intervene, though they did their best, it looks like these two groups just waited until the stewards had gone before confronting the Blyth fans. A police presence even just after a game would probably have prevented any trouble.

What a season that was. The 28 game unbeaten run which I think started on a Tuesday night in October at home v Yeovil in front of a crowd of about 650 and ending on a Sunday afternoon at Stafford in April, i think after taking the lead. Along with the Barnet game, the last minute  3 2 win at home to Kettering with the Golf Road going bonkers, and the 9 2 win v Merthyr particularly stand out. Also once you got into March having to turn up 30 mins before kick off at Moss Lane to avoid the queues. Finally the 3 3 game away at Slough and all the conspiracy theories.

That's the same night Utd play City, so unfortunately there may be only a limited number of locals going along to boost the crowd.

Controversy with their equaliser, didn't look like a back pass, but see what Alty TV shows. Didn't think either of their two back passes, some Alty fans were shouting for free kicks, were to be fair. Overall after looking like we were going to blow them away in the first 20 mins, I thought Blyth in the end probably deserved a draw, seemed more organised as the game went on, without creating much and we seemed to run out of steam.

Some people may remember the last time we played Chester at home , which was on  a Tuesday night during the season we got relegated from the NL, and coincided with a group of lads attaching themselves to the club trying to kick off with away fans at various home games during that season. There are still a few of them around at home games though I've not seen them trying to start trouble, since then, this match may bring a few of their mates out of the woodwork. On that night it  kicked off outside the ground at the Moss Lane/Golf Road corner with a couple of bottles thrown by each group of Alty and Chester lads at each other, before fights breaking out further down Moss Lane near Stamford Park, before police arrived. I hope the club have made arrangements for adequate policing of the game on Saturday.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: BPA Match Thread (part 4)
« on: February 16, 2019, 11:17:13 PM »
As per previous comments it was a really poor game, particularly disappointing when there was probably an extra 300/400  on the gate. Sort of match which highlighted the presence that Hulme gives us upfront. Piggott did ok but there were a couple of times when he was looking for free kicks too much rather than setting something up. Although BPA didn't create alot despite all their possession, the only surprise for me was it took them so long to eventually equalise. Going to have to raise our game to get anything v Spennymoor on Tuesday.

Yes Stockport played the ref well, but what is frustrating is that it is so obvious what they were doing , yet the ref fall for it too many times. We have Jordan Hulme who at times is also happy to hit the deck and feign being hurt, and today actually pretended he had a head injury when we were attacking , leading to the ref stopping the game as we put a ball into their box. He then gets up as soon as the trainer gets to him, unbelievable. Just wish he would cut out the theatricals and just get on with the game,

It's not showing on the Oddschecker but Skybet still have Alty at 14/1 though E/W is only paid out on finishing 2nd.
