We've already hit the bar from 6 yards apparently.

I think the above represents our entire fit squad just about!

No more fit players! Dunno if we are allowed 7 subs for FA Trophy, FA Cup you can

Southport only have 5 subs so I'm guessing that's all you're allowed.

HT 0-0

Terrible game apparently.

There has been a good save from Stu, but it looks like Alty have had the better chances.

Sub:

Senior on for Danylyk. Three up front then.

Title: Re: Southport match thread
Post by: Dougals Dad on December 13, 2008, 03:57:28 PM
I had guessed that we had 3 up front with Meech, Little & Johnson.

My guess is that Meech will drop back to midfield as GH maybe sees Chris' speed to be an assett against the 'port defence.

Or, maybe, 4 up front with Chris & Meech supplying Little & Johnson

I hope to goodness Danylyk's not injured. He's the last player we can afford to lose at the moment.

That's my worry on this one

Sounds like Senior has missed a good chance

Apparently GH is livid with the linseman so it must have been a bit iffy  :(

We seem to have been lack-lustre in all cup matches except the FA Cup game v Luton
Title: Re: Southport match thread
Post by: Paul Cain's Chip Pan on December 13, 2008, 04:25:20 PM
My reliable source at the game informs me that we've been awful all game.

Little was apparently having a stinker before being subbed earlier.

I agree with you in principle, but we need all the money we can get at the moment and one way or another we've lost about 15 grand today.

A bad day.

The league is the bread & butter and I suppose this is what we have to concentrate on (and we cannot afford too many results like this there), but how I long for a real Alty of old style cup run.

The come-back starts here.

totally agree and when you remember the days of wolves everton and liverpool it makes it worse,
4-3 to alty?
Title: Re: Southport match thread
Post by: Paul Cain's Chip Pan on December 13, 2008, 04:38:12 PM
A couple of disturbing statistics:

14 goals conceded in 4 games.

Only 3 goals scored in that same period.

GH will be fuming.

He will want to get some loans in, but now does not have the money to do it!

I think we are missing Densmore a hell of a lot

Shameful: we should be beating teams like this!

(No disrespect - of course!)
Title: Re: Southport match thread

It's not the defeat that disturbs me, it's the manner of the defeat. In truth, there is probably very little between the two sides but we certainly shouldn't be losing 4-1 at home to them!

Full time 4-1

Att: 609

At least no too many saw it!

GH will really lay in to the team after this - if he criticised them for the lack of passion v Luton, what will he say this time?
Dare I say that Colin needs a break and these poor results have all come with a lack of Densmore
Title: Re: Southport match thread
Post by: Leon on December 13, 2008, 04:46:42 PM
Missing Densmore certainly but I suspect we're missing Robbie Lawton more. I'm not his biggest fan but perhaps we're seeing his importance to the team in his absence?

As proud as I am of our history in cup competitions, we have become detached from that history now and are quite simply a very poor cup team.

When we lost Danylyk at half time it left us with a very powder-puff looking midfield. Maybe they just overran us in that department?
Title: Re: Southport match thread
Post by: Dougals Dad on December 13, 2008, 04:51:01 PM
We are short of back-up everywhere behind the front line.

GH has tried to get together a team that wins, but with our lack of money we cannot have everything.

i think densmore and robbie are both being missed Robbie doesn't half go at them to press and push ,1 bad ref is costing us dear

You'll have to wait until 4:37 am tomorrow when he arrives home mindless.

My source at the game says that the first goal was a bad decision by the linesman, and GH was not happy.  This changed the game, and we conceded two very quick goals after it.  That said, it sounds like we didn't put in a very convincing performance anyway.  Not a good day

Completely abject. First time I've ever left early. Our 'performance' can best be summed up by the following four words I heard as I left, "only Youngy was arsed!" The players should donate their weekly pay to charity - that way we would at least have paid for something worthwhile.

The fourth official had to call the ref over to speak to GH. We really lost our heads once they got their first
