Sounds fishy! No, I'm thinking of a player who played for a team that CCC just beat...

Quite, that's why we'll miss out on 8th to 11th. However, I am confident that we will still be able to bring in people who, combined with the players that remain, will be good enough to see us finish 12th to 15th.

Altrincham FC First Team / Poll: where will Altrincham finish
« on: December 27, 2022, 11:10:35 PM »
Right, we are top half for the start of the new year, a tremendous achievement by the players and staff (and supporters!), and I thought it would be interesting to see where people currently see us finishing - and maybe compare it with the early season poll. Personally I think that 8th to 11th, which would represent our best finish since Maunders pulled out, is now a realistic target, but that we may just fall short. Whilst we won't suffer again the large scale changes we saw in the close season, we will probably lose one or two players, and there are some strong teams in the league. A reminder - in the first poll on where we would finish, nobody predicted a top half finish. That number again - 0.

I think they would have if they could! I suspect he's going to have a good career (and by the way does he remind you at all of a certain other former Fleetwood player or is it just me?).

The CCC now has its own special feature on Alty TV, and if it doesn't go "viral", it certainly deserves to (442 views already) - though I must say it looked better from the Golf Road End. Let's remember too that this was against an FC Halifax side that had only conceded three goals in their last six league games.

I suspect MOM was given before the goal - exactly the reason why I'm not a fan of giving the award before the final whistle, you never know when someone is going to score a wonder goal that will be remembered for years and put a completely different complexion on things - Phil Parkinson looked like he had no doubts about his man of the match. I doubt I'll see a better goal this season.

Sub optimal! (yum yum)

Maybe it's just that with Colclough and CCC being so good today, and Dinanga looking menacing when he came on, they rather made Jennings look a bit anonymous?

First start of the season isn't it? Now if Pringle could emulate him...

Set up a 26th minute goal today (for Marcus Forss) apparently. When did he come on this time then :)

If he does get another chance at the PL with Boro, I think he deserves it.

Curzon made CCC look Messi? I'm not so sure. Look at the Alty TV coverage from about 5:05. I think he genuinely was good there! I used to play fullback sometimes in kickarounds, and I would have hated trying  to stop that. Also good to see Toby Mullarkey showing the sort of form that had Portsmouth interested (apart from when he nearly missed an open goal :) ).

I personally don't recall that, the only pitch invasions I can remember are after the occasional good win in the FA Cup we had back then (those were the days!), or after the last home game of each season.
I distinctly remember a pile-on with the players after a goal at Lancaster. Also after a match at Droylsden, as they didn't have a proper ground, we simply walked across the pitch from the far side at the end one night. I don't know if it was the "Farmer Dave" pitch night... Pitch invasions weren't that common though.

So far as I can tell, they are basically selling out home games, and I wonder if the Oldham attendance was related to segregation or some such (and I seem to remember there were issues around the Oldham-Wrexham game).

Essentially, something akin to what happened to Swansea "Town" - who have previously averaged below what Alty got last season
(in 1974-5) is now happening to Wrexham, and wen they finally build their new stand and are playing in the Championship, I wouldn't be surprised if they regularly sell out 16,000 odd (assuming we don't get ww3 or something first...).

To be fair they will be desperate to get promoted after missing out last season. Also they are worse away. You could be right again.

It was a bit silly maybe and then some, but then again, what about a certain Morecambe goalkeeper's mother? What about "half a pound of tupenny rice"?  What about "Cantona and Giggs", or Julian and the lineswoman at Stevenage - or indeed any number of things that I have done? And indeed what about a snowball with a brick in it? Anyone can do things that they will later regret, especially when young. It is all too easy to say "throw the book at them", but wouldn't it be better to try and show them the Alty way of doing things and make them long term Alty supporters we can be proud of? I know I am a better person because of people I have come cross watching Alty (and yes that includes you, Phil Taylor :)  ) Let's not give up before we've tried.

Hall-Johnson.

How many do you reckon they (or theoretically Scunny) will bring? And how annoyed will Irons supporters be if they lose on penalties tonight? Winning on penalties at Workington  in the dog walker's cup was bad enough. And that coach...
