We haven't got the squad we need, largely because of Hulme going, but you CANNOT blame anyone at Alty for that.
Once any player has certain clauses in their contracts there is nothing we can do if they want to look elsewhere and, as much as I hate the idea of good players going down a level or even staying at the same level, if they are made an offer they cannot refuse we cannot rely on loyalty.

I know that the board and management are still looking around for options.

Cracking start to the season so far...

Just curious, how many points would people settle for for our games against Hartlepool and Dover?  For me, I would go to both looking for the win but I would be pretty happy with a draw at Hartlepool.  I know Dover can be a tough place to go to with the long journey and anti-football pitch (which we will have to consider) but nevertheless I feel like those are the sorts of games we need to be getting three points from, maybe I'd feel more inclined towards just a point if we had beaten Weymouth and weren't bottom due to unfortunate circumstances....

Not necessarily talking about the points. Hume leaving the day before the season starts, losing 2 weeks to Covid, the Hulme replacement being a player who's barely scored a single goal in 5 years, Max Clayton leaving, the list goes on.

They are still looking for options!

On the plus side we are staying overnight in Dover. That should help.

It was Lawrence Looney, not Rob JD. Thanks for all your comments, so glad you enjoyed the chat.

Of course! Corrected!

(I am easily confused!)

Guys and gals, thanks for a very interesting chat, Lawrence, sorry you were cut off in mid-chat, the system timed out after 40 minutes. Possibly the quickest 40 minutes we have been through. Fabulous chat, and enjoyed our little get-together very much. Once the 40 minutes arrives, it cuts out automatically very suddenly. Remember I started a minute earlier to let you into the Zoom meeting.

Very interesting and I hope the participants also enjoyed this as much as I did. HSmith, sorry you could not make it but we will have further ones, hopefully same time next week!

Any other fans, come and join us for the next one, there were four of us today.

Harold/JD will PM with next one, Allison/Lawrence, I will WhatsApp message you for next one, all at a mutually agreeable time.

Thanks to you all!

Thanks to you Steve and great to meet Lawrence and Allison.

Disappointing result and overall performance, once again sloppy at the back.  I don't agree with some on here that we should drop Thompson just yet but I would have certainly liked to have seen Gould in goal for today's match and I don't really understand why that wasn't the case.  Also disappointed to not see Senior start at right back - I just feel he offers more than Densmore but I can understand the experience and leadership Dens brings in these one-off cup ties.  Would have also loved to have seen Clayton play today, can only presume at this point that he is injured/ill/fall-out(unlikely) because otherwise he would surely at least make it onto the bench, especially for a cup game.  Mooney, for me, has to start, him, Hanks and Kosylo (who I thought was good today) are our most creative players in the final third and I do really think that we should be using Ceesay and his pace for extra impact during the game when we are looking to extend a lead or get back into a game.  Finally, it's probably unfair to judge Potter since he was thrown into the mix straight away with only one (maybe two) training sessions with the other lads so can't say too much about him yet.  On the Lundstram point, however, he has now been dropped from the first team squad and is only featuring with the U23s (no injury), I hope we have been/are looking at potentially brining him back if Crewe now don't see him as regular first team squad player.

And I think I read that Potter was on a short term deal.

I noticed Fylde did have a couple of loanees - even if one was from Accrington and we might still get through if they check his registration! - and that might be something Parkie might need to look at.

It is a pity there were no replays on the live streaming, as I would like to see both goals again, as the first took me by surprise as well as Potter, and the second, as Cheshire Cat says, did seem far too easy.
While poor decision-making was a factor, we were punished for mistakes, which is normally what you expect when playing against a team from a higher division.
Matt Gould probably does deserve a go in the team, sooner or later  or what is the point in signing him, but I am disappointed to see Tony Thompson a target for instant criticism once again. On the same lines, it was particularly good that Tom Peers scored.

But other than that he was all but anonymous - understandable to a point as he had very little to work with, however.

Could be that Miller has jumped the queue, but surely he should be challenging Peers for the No9 spot.

We lacked energy and "Fizz" today, but 2 weeks off and, I guess, without a decent training session took it's toll.

Their goals were avoidable - very poor concentration and jus not up to game speed.}
Their midfield was stronger and Hancock hardly got into the game.
There was also some poor decision making, which you might be able to put down to a lack of game time, but things like TT getting the ball in injury time and passing it back to (I think it was) our left back, who could only pass it back to TT again!

Sadly the commentary is quite a bit ahead of the pictures!

Lads, short notice change, can you make it 1930pm instead, Allison is not available until then, I am still awaiting to hear from Lawrence also.

Try my best!
