Sorry to break it to you...
« on: May 06, 2008, 12:10:06 PM »

"FC United are pleased to announce that we have reached agreement to play our home FA Cup and FA Trophy matches at Moss Lane, home of Altrincham FC next season, 2008-09.

FC United have one more year remaining on the current licence agreement to play league matches at Gigg Lane, the agreement with Altrincham FC is for one season and extends to FA Cup and FA Trophy matches only"

I think I'll take a break for a few months.....

As per my post on the FCUM thread I can see the reasoning why.
They need somewhere to play, we need the revenue.
Doesn't take much working out really !

Apologies for my devils advocate-ness...but can we as "the fans" not say..."Come on...last time was bad, but we recognise EVERY club has a minority idiot element...come and enjoy Moss Lane, and treat it and everyone in it, as you will do your own ground when you've built it".

There is potential for mutually beneficial relationship here, which will help us along with perhaps financing the team we know we need to legitimately survive in the BSP.

Do we stand on Chequers whilst they have our bar if we get drawn away to them?

If we both get drawn at home, who moves?  Its probably us..nothing f**king surprises me anymore.

So we get knocked out by Whitley Bay at home in the 4th qual...I'll love the prospect of the cameras descending on the ground to cover FC United glamour second round tie..the posters around the town.

Sorry, but that's bolox, it's the first step towards FCUM playing ALL their home games at Moss Lane, further eroding our home support (no matter what league we are in).

This isn't about idiots or hooligans.....its about playing second fiddle to a team who will soon overtake us..in our own back yard.

Its like inviting a male model to live in your front room when you are having marital problems.

Sorry but I feel this is not particularly constructive.
We all complain about money, part time status, cant compete blah blah blah but when something is done to bring in extra revenue everyone is burning their shirts !!!
The expression cake and eat it springs to mind.

I am so angry about this and all the other decisions the board have made over the past week.

I've had enough.

I can see the benefits financially of this decision but the board need to announce that there is 100% no chance FC will ever ground share with us for league games, that would ruin Altrincham FC.  :P

Why? They'd only go back on it in two seasons!!

Like it or not this is the first step towards Altrincham United FC. I feel a debate coming...
