Title: What are we doing/ going to do?
Post by: Butty on December 15, 2007, 09:47:50 PM
what sort of formation were we playing today?
to me it looked like
coburn
lb shotton(moved to cb)
cb tinson
cb lane (moved over nearer the end but not much)
rb none existant

drifting in front of tinson  scotty
lm peyton (moved to lb)
cm robbie
cm sedge
rm o'neill(found himself at right back near the end???)

s little
s senior

And now when shotton leaves what are we going to do at the back? he appeared to have a good game at a sort of lefy backy position. Something tells me that we might just sink to the lowest of the very low over the christmas period and do the unthinkable against northwich.

Still, I, and I hope many others, will be present on boxing day shouting for the lads

John Laidlar's site confirms that Scotty played in front of the back 3. If we have this "Holding midfielder" we still need a back 4 behind.

If we do not play Logan we can then have a more central midfield with a 4-1-3-2 formation or alternatively play a 4-1-4-1. But do we have enough fire power with 1 up front?

Alas, we don't have enough firepower with two up front at present!

Alas, that appears to be a very good point!

Absolutely. Chris Senior is a winger. We urgently need two new strikers.

All areas need bolstering, we are shipping in too many goals.

It is a pity that Rose and Thornley have left, as it has reduced the options.

I still don't know where Rosey has gone. Can we get him back?

Rosey has lost his love of football and isn't playing anywhere. A certain Mr Kielty did this for 22 months until he emerged at Trafford and then went into management. It seems that after Alty there is nothing.

That's a pity. He formed a  decent partnership with Munroe for a while last season

He is still our top scorer and causes numerous problems for centre-backs in this league. I would kieep playing him upfront

Didn't he score 2 goals from the wing the other week?
