Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Four reasons why we won't go down
« on: September 09, 2007, 02:33:02 PM »
Seasons end in april/may not in September. Last season we looked dead and buried then we won 5 out of 6 games to put us back in the mix. Never give up until there is no chance of reaching 53 points.

Having loadsamoney doesn't stop players making genuine mistakes. The higher paid players can still make the same mistakes.

Or when the paparazzi start saying England can win the world cup if they beat Israel convincingly. Or they would want McClaren strung up by the balls if they get beat. Other point. Why does the Rugby World Cup take as long as the Cricket World Cup to complete. Who dreams up these long-winded formats. Next they will be coming up with 16-team Conference play-offs so the season lasts until the AGM.

One of the reasons I don't want England to win is that the Liverpool fans will say it is because of Gerrard that England have won. When Gerrard is not arsed playing for England. Also I have backed Israel to win. I would find an English bar in Majorca to watch the game but I can't find one that doesn't rip you off for prices. I will make do with Iceland v Spain or I can watch the European Cup Basketball.

Who the hell wants to watch England?!

England fans, and people who like to moan about the lack of creativity shown by steve mclarren.
I will start by saying McClaren out. The FA has wasted even more dosh paying stupid money to a lap dog.

It is a pity you can't get hold of the DVD of the Oxford game before Saturday so we can all clean the bookies out with correct score betting ,etc.

2-2 Oxford going 2-0 up in 5 mins and batter us in the first half. Coburn saves a dodgy penalty just before half-time. An Oxford player pissed off that Jim Smith shouted at the Oxford playersagain decides to deliberately score a own goal past a bemused keeper on 51 mins. Jim Smith goes ballisitic and hauls him off and says he will have no sweets on the coach back home. Aspinall misses a retaken penalty on 80 mins. After it was re-taken because an Alty player was a millimetre inside the box. Then Joe O'Neill scores an injury time equiliser from a corner. But the goal is not confirmed for 5 mins while the officials contact a member of the Conference board  to ask it is ok for a pub team to taking points off the mighty Oxford. Steve Evans objects to this decision and says everyone is against his club. Also Tamworth complain as well. I will stop there cause I have lost the plot. I apologise.

I would rather watch some proper football than watch Liverpool bore us to death in the Chumpions League.

« on: September 05, 2007, 08:18:56 PM »
Having seen the incident on you tube of the goal that never was. If the ref has waved play on and not blown his whistle. If I was that ref I would of given a goal. Even if Coburn had done the same thing and York scored in similar circumstances.
There is 3 similar instances that I can recall where a goal was given.
The first instance was years ago. I think Kelham O'Hanlon was in goal for Preston in a League Cup tie that televised on granada soccer night. The same thing happened. A goal was awarded
2nd instance was Kevin Deardan in goal for Brentford at Bristol Rovers about 8 years ago. Someone in the crowd blew a whistle. He thought it was the refs whistle. So he did what the York keeper did last night. A goal was awarded
3rd instance. Solihull Boro v Chester. F.A.Trophy 3rd Round replay. Dean Spink is flagged offside. Ball go straight to the keeper. Ref waves play on. Spink retreats to half-way line. Keeper kicks ball straight to Spink who runs unchallenged to score while the defenders are appealling for off-side. A goal was awarded.

Sometimes it not the best refs who get promoted through the leagues. It is in my opinion, It's  the ones who say the right things and do the right things , policicty, that get promoted. You have got to look at the premiership refs to see that. How have Riley and Steve Bennett have got to ref European games ahead of more worthy candiates?

The rumour is,I think is that Mark Wright is going to Manager of the slime, with his exciting football to bring the crowds to Connett park. Personally I would like Gordon Hill tactical genius to be next manager of the slime. Though Redfearn is doing a great job so far.

Joe O'neil scores to get Alty a point   ;D ;D
This happened when I was last in Majorca. When Joe O'Neill scored a last minute equiliser against the slime.

They do trains to Majorca?
It is cheaper to fly to Majorca.

Yes, yes.... never mind.
I don't have the qualifications to mind. Babysitting wouldn't be my chosen profession.
