I’ve made my feelings on the stick Marcus’ has received well known, so I won’t go back over that again. He just wasn’t quite good enough, though, and it seems sensible business to move him on for a fee after the arrival of Linney.

Plenty will disagree but I always felt he gave his all and wanted to succeed here. Sometimes a player/club combination just isn’t meant to be.

I mean no disrespect to Marcus - he put in plenty of effort, but in terms of quality he just fell short - simple as that.

Given it's fair to say most of us thought we'd need to release him, rather than take a fee, I think the board have done well in the circumstances.

Fair play if they've recouped most (or all?) of the Linney money in the process - we know he was Gateshead's first choice too.

Best of luck to him and I hope he does well there - he needed a change of scenery. He'll do very well for them if they drop into the NLN.

As for Jordan, I'd like to think we're on to FCUM to see if they'd like to take him on loan to replace Linney (like Chesterfield / Rochdale have done with us).

I'd rather subsidise half his wages as he's sadly not making much difference being round here at the moment, whereas he'd be great for them.

One problem… we can only name 5 loan players in our match day squad… Would Hulme not make it in the 11 we would need to name? Do we even have 11 without him?

Firstly, it's ten from nearer fifty if you count sub appearances.
Secondly, how many were tap ins?
Thirdly, how many glaring misses has he had?
Fourthly, chances to goals scored ratio probably 6 or 7 to 1 when it needs to be, at the outside, 3 or 4 to 1.

As has been said elsewhere, not NL quality sadly however nice a lad and however hard he tried.
