Welcome, good to get a proven left back.
-
That's a smart move!
-
Welcome Andy. Be nice to have an Alty lad playing for Alty, he might even be able to teach a couple of them it actually means something to play for Alty.
Remember him playing for the tameside clubs, always seems steady enough from what I remember and he is a recognised left back.
-
Welcome to the club Andrew, I really hope this signing helps us to sort our defensive problems out.
-
Is he small and economical?

;D
-
He was in my year at Alty Grammar.
He has the hardest shot in the history of world football after Julian Dicks.
Best of luck.
-
At last a left back , now Nicky can play in his best position , good luck Andrew
-
He will be no good, he is not a rough scouser - sack him now !!!
-
Oh and welcome ;D
-
Looked decent for trafford in preseason. Big step up, but I'm sure he will rise to the challenge.
Great news we are signing a local lad as well. Hopefully a first step towards fielding a team of lads exclusively from Alty and the surrounding area, much like a non-league Athletic Bilbao
-
Has already worn the Alty kit 8 years ago, when he played for the Youth team.

Nicky's best position this season imo...............left back

I'm glad its not just me that thinks that. For me he looks comfortable there and not like a winger playing there doing crazy tackling and stuff. He still got forward against Boston as well.
I'm sure G Turnbull (Trafford) doesn't agree of course.
-
I agree too, he's been largely disappointing for me at left midfield.

He's wasted there though Mick. At the very least I think we need a capable left back so we've got the option of playing him on the left wing. Not a long term move for me. Once teams realise he's actually our left winger they'll just start roughing him up (like Saturday)
As for Andrew Smart, welcome but for an Alty lad to have played for Macclesfield, Northwich, STalybridge and Hyde before he comes to Alty?.... ::) - ah what the hell, bit of a throwback to the good old days where it was obligatory to play for at least 3 CHeshire clubs.
Good luck and hope you're the new Danny/Chrissy Adams rather than the new Blake Norton.
-
Although I do agree that Nicky has been slightly disappointing on the left wing from what I've seen given his capabilities. I'll put it down to the change in personel around him (allied to the slight inconcistency he, and some other wingers has/have)
-
Ballers
I do agree we need Nicky on the left wing.........but the Nicky of last season :-\.
He has had better games and I believe the team has done better when he has been at LB.....but on the assumption we now have a specialised LB, Nicky can terrorise opposition RB's once more....here's hoping
-
Welcome but clearly done nothing
-
Welcome Andrew, just wish it had been 3/4 years ago. Always played well whren I saw him at Bridge.
As for Clee, I agree he been inconsistant at LW but steady at LB. That's one reason I would opt for a 3-4-3 with Clee and Densmore (who has been poor in CM but is a solid RB) as wing backs.

Absolute tosh.
This season we have looked this best when we have Lawrie on the right wing and Clee on the left wing.
Lots of width, lots of pace, really able to stretch the play and hit teams on the counter.
-
Absolute tosh.........more of an opinion I would say
Now - 2000 fans at the Shay from Alty......that's absolute tosh.....I just didn't have the poor manners to say so at the time
