Well, regarding the player he hooked after 17 minutes today.......according to Mr Young on the website he has previously trained 3 times with us and shown up "really well".

Nuff said, the whole situation beggars belief

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: New signing

They both look to be positive signings on paper, let's hope they prove it on the pitch.
Unfortunately, we play on grass...every single press release about each of the new signings since NY came in ( sorry but I've completely lost count now) has praised them highly. We now know that this has proved to be hyperbole, and most of them have been proved to be bang average at best, and absolute bobbins at worst. I absolve Hannigan, Cyrus, Patterson and possibly Lynch from this observation.

I am dreading tomorrow, these lads barely know each other and we cannot afford anything less than a win, even at this early stage of the season. I'd take 1-0 right now. This revolving dressing room door policy is bloody ridiculous, does this guy have a clue what he is doing? I've been to every game this season including friendlies ( bar Gainsborough ) and am not seeing any signs of improvement, in fact we are sinking fast.

We were warned about this when he arrived, but this is becoming a serious issue. I really don't think he has a clue what he is doing, and he certainly does not know his best team. Plus...there are 3 of them to work it out, yet every week seems to bring at least 2 new faces. This week alone we have 4 !!

Sorry for the negative tone to this, but needed to get this off my chest. Rant over

It's all about opinions, but those who went to the Chester game should remember how well Charlton played at left back, indeed there were several posts on here to that affect. I'd give him more time, and not bin him on the basis of an iffy game at Trafford ( he was not on his own that night ) and the games against United and Crewe who had players against him who are far superior to what he'll face in the league.

We need to give these lads a chance to bed in, rather than be so reactive to less than perfect performances every game.

Congrats to NY for bringing in Hannigan and Cyrus...looks a really solid pair. Lynch and Patterson have also done very well, added to Goodall and things are shaping up well.

I understand they can't announce it officially until his current contract ( presumably with Morecambe) expires. There was an assumption earlier that this would be end of June, perhaps it's the end of July? Either way, I believe he is our player...and a very welcome addition to it at that.

I think we just need to be patient, if that's possible on here!

He had this to say..

The highly rated 19-year old, who scored 5 times in 20 appearances during a successful loan spell at Altrincham last season, becomes Jon Whitney’s tenth summer signing.

"This is a great move for me," said Ginnelly. "I'm a young player who is still learning but I back myself to do well.

"I was in the National League last year and I couldn't have asked for a better loan. I learned a lot from it and now I've come to a club who were going for promotion in League One.

...he has signed for Walsall on loan until January.

Shame, would gave been good to see him back here but it's probably a good move for him.

Yes, that's a real shame for Shaun and Alty...though to be fair Sam Patterson has looked a decent right back in these friendlies.

Hope the scan shows not too much damage, and as speedy a return as possible.

Where was Goodall last night?
On the bench, unused

Yes he did Brian, very impressed with him and the midfield in general.

Perhaps you know if Dens is fit yet, maybe we'll get to see him again over the next few friendlies?

Surprised we've not had Goodall confirmed as the holding midfielder yet by the Club.

He was very good today, hopefully we'll get the confirmation over the next few days.

I really enjoyed it today, thought Alty looked really good for extended spells and were unlucky not to win. They looked solid at the back with Hannigan and Cyrus looking strong. The left back Charlton was excellent, in fact the only doubts I have are with the keeper who looked a bit iffy at times.

Midfield had energy, pace, invention, some dig...and guess what - they kept the ball on the floor and passed it about nicely. Mr Lawrie looks like a new player and I was impressed with Goodall on debut. Who was number 12? Thought he was good too, and if the delivery from free kicks hadn't been regularly overhit then we could have put them under more pressure.

Up front, Reevesie looks reborn. Great touch for his goal, and he looks lively and happy. Hattersley put himself about and got a nice header from a corner.

Anyone know why Dens hadn't played yet? I was hoping to see him back, although the right back played well.

Squad taking shape nicely...does anyone know if we have a reserve keeper sorted out, as not heard if he is keeping Williams?

Lots of teams in the league talking up their chances next season, let's hope we get off to a fast start and build confidence. These friendlies are really important considering the massive change of personnel, need to build partnerships within the team.

Welcome to Alty, good luck.

Don't forget we also have Shaun Densmore as well; he fits into that category.
Good shout Steve, will be great to have a fit Dens back ( hopefully )
