Should we have been on live tv?
« on: November 18, 2008, 11:44:05 PM »

From main site 'The financial loss of the £20,000 prize money was compounded by Luton's refusal to play this match on a Thursday when £37,000 would have been paid to each club in television fees for a live transmission'.
Do i take it as ITV/setanta wanted to show us live but luton refused. If so, im not happy at all as i was unable to attend due to being at uni.

If that is true, then it is sheer stupidity by the board of Luton. Is it not as if they have got plenty of money to spend is it.

I believe Setanta wanted us as their live game to be played last Thursday but Luton refused to play on a Thursday and then have to travel back for their league game on Saturday therefor losing both clubs £37,500. Setanta showed Tranmere v Accrington instead. Luton obviously can't be as hard up as they make out if they can afford to turn down that sort of money.

Then I have no sympathy for Luton's plight. I believe they have only themselves to blame that they are staring relegation in the face.

They're going to have fun in the BSP when setanta moves their games all over the place.

So we should allow TV executives to dictate?

Football matches are won and lost by minute margins - Right decision imo.

Well, if you get relegated, i don't think you'll have a choice!
Ask Oxford/york fans etc about that!

Apart from being as good a chance as any to add another league scalp this was a poor draw for us.

With many of the Luton fans clearly not interested our share of the gate was the equivalent of a 3,000 att at home...then you knock of the travelling costs and policing......we'll make more money from our home match with Northwich!!

Then the buggers turn down £37k for us both....I have no sympathy with them if they can afford to turn down that sort of cash...their priority is obviously the lost cause of surving in the football league.

I can't wait to see them next year.....and I'm almost hoping they reach the 3rd round and get Utd at home...and then bleat that SKY are showing Fleetwood Vs Wigan and try and change home advantage or ask Utd for a handout or something.

We should have beaten them and on atitude and desire for the competition clearly we would have been the most deserving case.

Luton why did you get a points deduction so big if your not in financial trouble? Plus don't worry because like the chant goes were going to play you for years

They had their reasons, presumably valuing a potential 3 points v D&R above £37,500. Obviously I'd have wanted them to agree to the TV coverage but they didn't, which was their right whether we think it was a good move for them or not. If you look at what happened, 3 points on Saturday and the prize money from last night you can't argue that they got it wrong can you?
