Altrincham FC First Team / Re: New signings songs?
« on: March 06, 2012, 04:03:24 PM »
Anyone who can come up with a song for Leighton McGivern - Henshaw gets a goodwin!!

It doesn't quite work but it's best I can do. To the tune of Knocking on Heavens Door.

Ma, take that Astra off him, he won't drive it anymore. He's come to Moss Lane Alty to see, if we can knock on the playoffs door. Leighton McGiven Henshaw, Leighton McGiven Henshaw.

Sorry!

I wasn't at yesterday's game but from the radio commentary and the report on the official site I don't think anything happened yesterday that should lead to anyone questioning the manager or players. My understanding is that we were unlucky to come away with nothing against an in form team. So why the negativity?
yes, now i see what your saying.......it not that bad result, as you say Bish Stortford are an in form team and we unlucky

keep this up robins.....onwards and upwards

You know perfectly well that nobody is saying everything's fine. It's clear from the timing of your posts that you have some sort of vendetta against the manager and are hoping to pick up followers for your cause by posting this nonsense after each bad result. I'd go so far as to suggest that you are probably hoping for failure so you can tell us all how you were right all along.

Excellent coverage thanks a lot.

No way you can tell if Reeves is on or offside from a view from the halfway line. It was certainly pretty close either way.

We played ok, my worry was the amount of free headers their forwards got in.

Some great tackling in defence with people putting their bodies in front of the line to protect the goal, was really impressed with the desire there.

Also glad we kept discipline in defence not to give a penalty away, could have been very easy to dive in on a number of occasions.

As for Reeves off side goal, WAS NEVER OFF SIDE, was on by two yards.

I can only assume you weren't in line with it because it was clearly offside no question about it.

The alty ladies would beat us if reeves was injured....fact

Alty would absolutely batter the England women. I've watched quite a bit of top women's football and there are some good players but the pace and power is no where near that of even the BSN. Can you imagine the 50/50 tackles? or any high balls? Would they win any crosses for example? I don't even think you could compare the two.

Have we just signed Lee Chapman and Stan Collymore?

And Giggs?

oh now you've got me started
the smoking ban doesnt help but its fourth behind
no 2cheap booze from the supermarkets
and no 3  the fact that my generation is the last generation to think going to the pub every night is normal , particularly to play that dying game darts , or doms or don or crib . you just dont see it any more. its been replaced by television in pubs  . televisions should only be switched on when there is football on . for fecks sake people watch all sorts of sh*t now. switch it off talk to each other, become friends, play games you have to think about .

RIP the british pub .

rant not over there is more to come

Spot on.

Unfortunately talking to each other is a foreign concept to most people these days. There's nothing in this world more interesting than people and when they've had a couple of pints they usually get more interesting.

Gainsborough were excellent and were on top from start to finish. Could easily have been beaten by more we just couldn't compete.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Vics offer from THOR
« on: January 27, 2012, 01:56:24 PM »
Hugo,
Don't think that is right, There was a deal signed to play saturday against Marine and a further one to play all remaining home games there which as of wednesday evening was not signed.
This then replaced the offer of help to pay towards ground sharing this and next season.

Again the above is what we wre told at the meeting wednesday night.
Cheers

You've been told a lot of things in meetings since Honest Jim took over that have proved to be untrue.

Firstly take no notice of Mat because as far as I know he does not go to any games or have anything to do with the club
I know you are probably not interested but we think we will be allowed to see the season out at the VS then.....well who knows hopefully find a groundshare then try and rebuild.
All the best.

The way I understand it Thor offered the use of the ground for the rest of the season but received no response to their kind offer from Jim 'pants on fire' Rushe. Next thing he's publicly announcing that a deal has been agreed!

« on: January 24, 2012, 06:36:32 PM »
I am really pleased for Jack and sad fo Alty. We find and develop a good player and he moves on, under the old ways we would have made money.

Again we miss out due to the Boards failure to commit by contracting players. Surely this is not the way to success?

You've got this wrong. The management team and board should be congratulated for getting Jack here to a club below the ambitions of the player. I know you can say that Alty was a step up from where he was but so would have been every other club in our division and above and I bet there's a few of those that wish Jack had played 13 games for them.

Thanks Jack for your contribution at Alty. You came with a great attitude and fully deserve the opportunity you have been given in the league. Good luck and I hope you have a successful FL career.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: New manager????
« on: January 08, 2012, 03:06:23 PM »
Changing managers every 5 minutes isn't the way to success. I think most people knew at the start of the season that it wasn't going to be a cake walk so it shouldn't be that big a shock that we are mid table.

I might be alone here but I'm enjoying seeing some entertaining football instead of 10 men behind the ball looking for a 0-0 at home.

We should get behind the manager in difficult times and trust him to get it right.

I didn't go yesterday on principle. I refuse to acknowledge their existence as a club in the same way that I dont recognise MK Dons. Starting a new club when things aren't going your way goes against everything I understand being a supporter of a club to be about.

I think you'd find that if we'd won 8-0, Hugo's view (which I agree with 100%) would be exactly the same. One result doesn't change a principle.

Thanks Phil you are right. If we had won 8-0 of course I would have been disappointed to have missed a good Alty victory but the principle would override that. That's the reason I posted on a thread about their club rather than a thread regarding the match itself.
