Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Chesterfield Match Thread
« on: January 24, 2023, 05:32:56 PM »Had to be the case that Ryan's debut would be against us, didn't it.
Very much seeing this one as a 'free hit', if we can get something out of the game, that would be amazing.
Well, no it didn’t. We should’ve had the bollocks to insist that he didn’t play against us and if they didn’t agree we could have just been tardy about the admin and transferred him over on Jan 31st.
Correct
Not particularly conducive to building healthy relationships with our fellow clubs though, is it.
It's one game in the grand scheme of things.
What the actual f**k are you on about? Building relationships with other clubs? It’s completely immaterial.
Have you noticed that Chesterfield have put a clause in so that Michael Gyasi cannot play against them tonight? Like with Stockport, that’s a one sided relationship we can do without.
Why is everyone as soft as sh*te?
Although that said, no point wasting too much time on this until we see if Colclough actually lines up against us tonight…
Firstly, building relationships with clubs is exactly the reason why we have players like Chris Conn-Clarke come to us (to give just one example).
Secondly, I'm not sure what's hard to understand about the concept that Ryan Colclough is their player... and Michael Gyasi isn't ours. I've only ever known of a handful of occasions a loan player has played against their parent club (Lua Lua famously? Courtois against Chelsea because they didn't think about the Champions League?) - and it's usually been met with ridicule at the parent club for being so complacent.
There's only one person here spouting nonsense, and it certainly isn't me.
Some of us recall the mortifying nonsense of Alty allowing Leroy Chambers to play against us whilst he was on loan at Frickley Athletic, whereupon he duly scored two goals:

Attendance of 223! Dark times indeed. We'd probably take that number ourselves to Frickley these days.
