Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Next season's squad
« on: May 01, 2018, 02:27:04 PM »
This squad have earned the right to have a go at playing at the level above and I think that the majority will step up a league with no problems at all. Id expect the lads out on loan to leave permanently, but id bring in no more than 3 players to a well balanced squad of players. Its quality more than quantity this time around, which is great news. A top drawer midfielder would be my number 1 target.

Excellent news. I haven't watched all of the video from the meeting tonight (good work from the media team) but I have watched PP. I thought he spoke brilliantly and with passion. We are onto a good thing with Phil and Neil in charge and I hope that the stay away fans can see beyond their differences with GR and get back to supporting the team and enjoying the football. I have to admit that one sore point from this season is that this group of players haven't enjoyed the level of support from the alty fans than far less deserving teams have in the past.

Yesterday was woeful. Utter dross. Arguably at times worse than the football under Harvey Young and Doughty
Phill promised us players would be fighting to wear the shirt. What happened yesterday? 11 bone idle players wandered around the pitch. There was no urgency or spirit.

At least with Witton we played with a bit of fight, we were just poor. Yesterday was poor effort and poor football.
They deserve all the credit in the world for Stourbridge but part and parcel of that is getting criticism when playing like a shower of sh*te.

If a team like Buxton or Witton play well and we play with energy, tempo and don't make silly errors, and the team drops points, then whilst it's not good, you can take the odd dropped point.

Wow. The difference being last season yesterdays type performance was the norm, this season that type of performance has been few and far between. Ok, yesterday wasn't good, but I think there was effort, just bloody awful conditions and below par performances (with individual errors) from everybody apart from Max Harrop. Can't believe this team can be compared to the garage under Doughty and Harvey even on a bad day.

Mason Walsh has left. Had to go down south for family reasons, but may return next season as he is at Uni in Mnachester. PP also expects to sign a striker, so maybe a alternative way of playing is being planned.

Another  complete over reaction. The complete disrespect and poison on this forum for is embarrassing. Yes today was awful but it is still in our hands. We are not going to win every game but neither are the chasing pack  and the  few morons actually booing the team get a f**king grip.

I totally agree. The booing was a disgrace. Didn’t play well today but overall this team has done very well and played some lovely stuff. Some minor tweaks needed for the run in

Utterly shocking performance

PP hasnt strengthened the team and 2nd game in a row we are behind and pinning our fightback on sam.

Lots of happy clappers quite happy paying a tenner to watch that sh*te coz "we are top of the league"

A bit of respect for your fellow supporters wouldnt go amiss. Yes we were terrible today but a lot of us have really enjoyed watching this team this season and we've played some great football. Try and remember we all support the same team!

Well said

Harrop has been outstanding in central midfield. His passing is a joy to watch and I like his tenacity. The defensive issue is that Jones is simply not at the same level as Tom Hannigan. The games that we were winning and not conceding goals, Hannigan was present.

I think we'll certainly see Hannigan in for Jones, and Id also start Densmore for White. Can't see PP dropping Moult.
Tuesday was a blip, but the good news was that the team responded positively to being 2 down at half time. We were a good save from JJ's shot in the second half at 2-2 away from winning that game. We'll be back to our best on Saturday.

The stay away supporters need to come back to Moss Lane and enjoy the football because it’s excellent. For years I’ve felt we’ve had teams that were difficult to bond with but this group and management are the best since the promotion winning team of 2005. Forget GR. We know he’s made some bad appointments and some PR gaffs and he probably will in the future , but I would imagine we all started going to football matches to enjoy the football , not become embroiled in a bitter rows with the chairman. I support the team and management , and give very little thought to the board of directors.

Its a shame he is so injury prone, because when he is fit and has had a run of 5-6 games at it, he is a class defender certainly in this league and I suspect the one above too. I personally wouldn't keep him next year, but I could understand the temptation to.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Does the £5 offer bother you?
« on: February 20, 2018, 03:35:19 PM »
Think this United City £5 thing has been done enough now, 905 was an appalling attendance considering. Try doing something for the Altrincham fans for once, so much for diversity

How many did you think we should have been getting for the game Jamie? Whether or not you would describe it as “appalling” probably depends on how many you were expecting to come in the first place.

Personally I though 905 taken in isolation is a decent enough Saturday crowd for us at this level, all things considered. However, in the context of the anti-homophobia day, the prominent national/local media coverage, and the £5 ST offer, then I was definitely a little ‘underwhelmed’ by the crowd myself, rather than appalled.
That said, we only got 900-odd for NLD with big fanfare, so perhaps it’s fair to say that my own expectations for Saturday were a little on the high side too.

Does anyone know how many Utd/City STs we got through the gate in the end?

I would be expecting to be getting 900 odd as a minimum without any crass or desperate offers on, so with all the publicity and offers and homophobia or diversity the crowd was appalling considering the football we're playing and top of the league. Parky and the lads deserve better

I guess the damage has been done and until Rowley goes many just won't return, and trying to replace those missing fans by pimping ourselves to United and City fans is just papering over the cracks and not sustainable

I do agree about papering over the cracks. It seems we are trying to replace our absent core supporters (very noticeable on Saturday, it was silent at times) with new fans, rather than open up dialogue with them through a new supporter's group that seems to have fallen flat on its face.

Entirely disagree about the attendance being appalling though. Our average attendance when we won promotion from the National League North in 13/14 was 909.. Our 14/15 National League season saw 3 home games with an attendance below 905: 894 v Braintree, 850 v Welling United, 870 v Dover. Our 15/16 National League season saw 5 games with an attendance below 905: 677 v Eastleigh, 861 v Braintree, 869 v Kidderminster, 826 v Woking, 805 v Gateshead.

Some would have you believe that everything is alright because our attendances are doing okay and we're top of a league, but it still clearly isn't. If anything its kind of a shame we are doing alright without them because data wise the absence isn't that noticeable to be honest. In the ground on a match day however, we're still very far away from what we once were.

Very much so. The atmosphere is nowhere near what it was, which is a shame. With regards the dialogue between the chairman and supporters group, is there anything other than step down that GR could do that would entice the absent fans back? Or are they gone for good?

Its a bit of a slap in the face for the long standing supporters, where is our reward for supporting them home and away week in week out? I've stopped getting wound up by the decisions made by the board now though, focus entirely on the football, which has thankfully been very enjoyable this season.

Can't honestly say the lad has been given a chance since returning to fitness. He's a good player and still young enough to get back to the level he was at before. Hope he propels Trafford to promotion.

He was as others have pointed out a rare bright spark in an otherwise awful season, but there is no way that PP can put him in the team ahead of the likes of Hanks, Poole or JJ in his current physical shape. I have to say I've been a bit disappointed with his lack of desire to lose weight and get fit.

Decent enough player at this level and a nice passer of the ball, but was going to find it difficult to get in over Moult or Richman ans now Harrop after his unexpected impressive performances from central midfield.
