Harrogates situation is a prime example that some non league pitches just cannot sustain winter weather and fixture pile ups.

Harrogates pitch is possible the worst example you could give.  That was caused by poor contractors, they would have had problems with that pitch any season mate.  It was  shocking when we played there early season and people were wearing flip flops.

And they were also probably having games postponed when other pitches at this level were playable.

It's not the norm though mate it is and weather is broken due to CFC's from Lynx in the 90's.

Imagine the frustration if we did this, had a normal January next year and then it started snowing in February.

Let it take its chances i say, not to mention the cashflow implications of a month of wages with no matches.

i just think planning less games around december january might be a sensible start.

If you do that then you would have to presumably axe certain dates in those months. You then risk having the ground sitting empty with a playable pitch and the planned dates being postponed. You cant legislate when in a month bad weather will strike.  Remember we played boxing day and new years day this season. Other seasons they were wiped out.

English weather is against a winter break.

Fans are against a winter break.

The logistics of the game are against a winter break.

If people still want a winter break I suggest you start by talking to the owners of prem clubs.  They have the power now.  If they want it it will happen, if they don't it won't.

But they don't know that there's a bloke on the alty forum who wants a winter break.
Tell them that and watch them crumble.

Poor fixture planning is not the same thing as a winter break. The sooner you grasp that idea the better.
