Altrincham FC First Team / Re: End of Season Awards - Fans Votes
« on: May 14, 2022, 11:13:19 AM »

It's striking for me that there hasn't been a standout worldie goal like Connor's last minute belter at Sutton for example.

I still can't believe how Hampson's piledriver didn't win last season's award.

Maybe we should award Goal of the Season on the volume of Brian Flynn's reaction!
“Yes sir, it’s Dan Moody” made me chuckle.

It wouldn't have happened on John Laidlar's watch.

I think I’ll give up on the official site and return to alty files where there is not only this news but a good list of players statuses (shame the official site can’t do something similar rather than John’s “presumed” list). John also answers the appearance question - a staggering 1770 appearances between them. Quite an incredible achievement and a hell of a wrench to see them go.
Could we reclassify John’s website as the new official full time version and the club could have a part time website which it is.

John would have known before the manager. 😔

No surprises in that list, apart from Thompson who I thought might have wanted to make the move to full-time football.

I'd rather think of most of them as having 'completed it' rather than leaving - particularly those that have seen us at our darkest moments and leave us at our strongest.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of them.
Very well put. Sums up the way I feel and sure there’s many others support this sentiment.

Seconded!
The 'behind closed doors' period was mitigated considerably with Alty TV to watch. A real lifeline. 👍
I never “went” to so many away games as I did in lockdown season. 😂

Could be vital point in our quest for a higher league placing.
If we can turn Yeovil over and Sarfend don't beat Torquay we can finish 12th.

Why is Kossy missing. Is he injured

He's gone on a 2 week holiday

What, another one?! 😂😂

Is he working for Ryanair 😂
I'm picturing him wearing a stewardesses uniform. No, stop it! 🤔

I'd be very surprised indeed if we were to get anything out of tonight with the team we've put out. Our best shot could be a 0-0. Mooney is the only first choice forward out there.
No Mullarkey, Kosylo, Colclough, Hulme, Leitch-Smith, Hancock or White.
I don't know what that tells us really.
. A statement of a little intent. I've corrected it.😱

For example, it'll be very interesting to see the make up of the back four.

I'll be slightly more specific than that; it'll be interesting to see if Toby Mullarkey is available.
May have picked up a "niggle" or even a "twinge"?

Whilst in Northern Ireland a tour including Larne (Full time - very ambitious), Linfield (Full time - usual champions), and Lisburn distillery (part time, historic - two div lower but within walking distance of my inlaws) would make sense

Many will be for that!
My eyes were magically drawn to that word too! Just play them three times.

Play them once and if you've had enough you'll see three games.
🥳🥳🥳

Hi Andrew, interesting post of yours. Some points you may be interested in. At present, girls football is achieving huge growth at present. My younger foster daughter Lacie, joined about a year ago when she was under 9's level. He year had 1 team and they were just starting a second team of whom Lacie now plays for. Both the first and 2nd team are in the highest division at Under 10's level. We now have had to add a third team to allow growth, and this is happening in other years too. So in the current Under 10's this season, we have the Red Kites, Black Kites and now the White Kites. They are three very good teams and the girls love playing football and are also close friends off the pitch too. They were all parading round the pitch at half time, and it was a joy to watch them tearing onto the pitch after the ladies game as they really look up to both the Under 23's and the Women's first team. The elder girls also made a big fuss of them, carrying some of the much younger girls, and you could see the admiration and aspirations of the younger girls. It had me very close to tears as I watched from the main stand.

My point is, I cannot thank the club enough for what they have done to welcome Brooke and Lacie to the club. When they came with me to watch, I told them that this is not only my club, but their club too. Lacie sprained her wrist last week and was not able to play. When she found out she was unable to play her game she cried her eyes out for 15 minutes. In the end I had to take her to watch her teammates play, and she insisted on standing with her coach! Lacie meets the players for autographs and sometimes a chat after the games, she also met the ex Arsenal and England player Alex Scott the other week. We all idolise our players as much as any United or City fan, but the thing I love about non-league is pour players play because of a deep love of the game and I hope they enjoy mixing with fans as we do with them. You cannot do that a United or City, but you can here. Plus, they play lovely football and you cannot say we don't get our money's worth!!
What a spot on post Steve. Captures what Alty and indeed the wider non-league family are all about. Went to Wrexham and despite the result had a thoroughly good day out. There's more to the Alty experience than just the game. You don't need to explain any further to the converted.😂😂😂
