2 from Skem are just as cover and staying there.

Wonder what James Smith is like these days?  Was a decent defender for us if I recall.

James was out of favour in an improving Southport team, but I think we all know that he will do a decent job for Telford in Conference North. Telford clearly mean business, it's either outright promotion or play off success for them I think. If we really want to compete we desperately need a right sided forward and probably a strong holding midfield player either today or tomorrow. Do Altrincham FC aspire to reach the Conference National, or not? I guess we'll soon find out.

It will have to be today or tomorrow the deadline is 5pm Thursday. Midfielder and another winger are a must, we need more than one attacking outlet, if we haven't sounded out players by now, them I doubt any will be coming. Hopefully we will see some sign tonight as we presumably didn't train last night

Wouldnt have minded seeing smithy back here.

It would be nice to see LS get some cover in before the deadline but i somehow doubt it.

Cmon LS prove me wrong.

I remember a discussion pre season when after complaints from some quarters about lack of signings the club said we would be in a position to strengthen if we needed and were in a position to compete for promotion in the last part of the season.........the discussion basically centred around why not sign what we need now and secure promotion rather than be on the fringes and make late signings in a late push,.

when I say discussion what I meant was fight obviously.......

Smith was awesome alongside Youngy and Shotton, wing backs of Doughty and Dens!  sh*t hot conference defence at the time with the fire power of Little, Senior and Denham. Loved that era, need to get back in the conference ASAP! Need atmosphere

James Smith never played alongside Ryan Shotton for Alty.

He generally played in the same defence as the likes of Mark McGregor; Greg Young and Robbie Williams.
