Maybe we can change it to FORSALE after our 1-0 defeat on Saturday ::)
-
It's a bit embarrassing really . If we were in the 3rd round maybe ..
I really hope it doesn't back fire
-
Can it be amended to #FATROPHY when the time comes?
-
We used to be good at the AGM Cup when in the Conference!
-
WTF??!! Sooooo tinpot!!
-
At least we can paint it a neutral colour instead of the tacky red and white.
-
To add ' not guilty '
-
It's a bit of a facup to be honest

Go to your room.....
-
Who on earth gave permission for this?
-
The other side of the tv gantry has Alty on it looking at the photo's i have seen
-
It's clearly a publicity stunt, but it needs painting over again asap.
-
Maybe they could be invited back vandalise all the pigeon droppings on the pop side with a brush and bucket of soapy water.
-
Awful.

Maybe the sports business have finally decided to do something?
-
I like the Alty side.....can we change the FACUP into Alty using the A?
Hopefully the FACUP bit will have been covered up...it's so tacky and is asking to be a bad omen and make us a laughing stock...
-
I don't see why. It's not like it says we are going to win it.

John Laidlar's Alty Files drops a subtle clue as to the source...
A new mural has appeared on the Popular Side at the J. Davidson Stadium (pictured above). Below are our "initial" thoughts on the subject.
Red and white paint has been applied to the rear of the Popular Side terracing in alternate bands of colour.
In advance of Saturday's FA Cup match against Bradford (Park Avenue) the mural alludes to the Club's proud FA history - albeit little has been seen of FA Cup success in recent years
Catering to the modern vogue for social media, the mural advertises the hashtags #Alty and #FACup.
How and when the piece of artwork was completed remains shrouded in mystery but it is believed someone cooked up the idea earlier this week.
It is now two years since Altrincham last reached the First Round Proper, at which stage non-League clubs have the chance of a giantkilling against an EFL club.
Eventually, whether this season or next, Altrincham hope to add to their seventeen FA Cup victories against Football League clubs, which are listed below

That woeful mural is as half-baked as one of the culprit's mince pies.

That could be deemed insulting if it wasn't so funny LOL

Not the first time he’s taken it upon himself to renovate the ground without club permission. Remember the ridiculous “scoreboard” crowdfunding he attempted to get off the ground without discussion with the board?
I’d be interested to hear what the grounds committee think of this.
-
It must be a slow news week.
I really don't see the problem.
-
With any luck it'll come off with a power hose and detergent at the culprits expense.
-
WOW you guys really don't like this do you ... your that grumpy about it i duly invite you to stand in the grumpy corner with waldorf and stratler , its a bit of fun take it as that and dont hate on everything that you dont like ::) ::)
-
I've no problem with the sign.
I just wish that someone can get the pigeon sh*t removed off the barriers on the pop side though, its a health hazard.
-
disappointing

That's the issue though. When did Moss Lane become a plaything for "a bit of fun?"
-
My issue above anything else is the lack of consultation with fans about what they want, or whether they think it is a good idea at all.
Whether it actually is the case or not, there's the concept of an Us vs Them mentality at the club. This does nothing to debunk that, at all. Things like this are done on a whim without any thought for how fans might feel about it - and judging by this thread, the majority aren't too pleased... So the whole thing could have been avoided.
I'd actually love to see the back of the stands brightened up and the general idea and effort put in gets my full respect, but we could look at commissioning a mural or something after gauging the opinion of everyone. Not a select few.
-
Indeed and the cringworthy suggestion it was vandals doesnt stand up. Why not just come out and say we've tarted them up and put this.
-
I think it as meant to be tongue in cheek when it was announced under the heading vandals , its a gimmick , we dont live in a utopian world where everyone needs to be consulted , i just wish the regime could understand the fans a little better whether disenfranchised or supportive of the directors but i for one will not hate on everything that is done by the club (ps i want him out as well im just not as recipherus in my displeasure )
-
I’m not keen on it, but I’m against anything modern in football, Be it half and half scarves, musical instruments, fans of opposing clubs standing together having a “sing off”, anything other than pies and beef tea on the menu at the snack bar, jester hats, MoM for the away team. However it’s not that bigger issue. But this again shows how disenfranchised the clubs support is and will be until there is a new chairman in office. The atmosphere was moribund against Curzon Ashton. Plenty of families enjoying a drink and a day out but no real interest in who won or lost. A proportion of long time but currently AWOL fans were doing other things that day again. Look at the atmosphere at Kidderminster last week when some of those refusing to attend until there is a change at the top were tempted out for a day on the piss at a club we’ve heard of and a place we know is a decent day out. If people weren’t so f**ked off at the club being split down the middle and it being ignored things like this would be laughed off I’m sure.
-
Another unimpressed by this, it's the 3rd Qualifying Round and we've won one game to get here.
-
I'm getting the feeling the "A" will be replaced by "UC!"
-
I really can’t believe the bullsh*t that is being written about a bit of paint. Is it April Fools’ Day?
-

The issue isn't wish the paint but the choice of wording. Nobody seems to have an issue with the other side that says ALTY.
-
It worked then! ;)
-
The only thing missing off that mural to make it more permanent and pertinent is the number 17; a reminder to any league clubs who visit!

We'd only have to alter it some time in January (said he optimistically).
I still think it's tacky - think Banksy, but change the initial. At least it's behind me so I don't have to look at it during the game.
-
Its about professionalism, does it make us look a more professional club....no
-
Anyone free to do a spot of painting at the ground tonight ?
-
I noticed yesterday #FACUP has been painted out
It wouldn't be a bad idea to reinstate it at the start of every season for as long as we remain in the tournament. It would give the players a nudge.
-
Spiffing idea we should do it for the Cheshire senior cup and the Fa Trophy as Well
-
Yes, I was hoping to see #CSCUP. It would only have needed two letters changing.
-
I didn't realise anyone cared about the Cheshire Senior Cup. Bring it on!

An arrow between FA and CUP, and the word YOUTH would have been fine for Thursday evening....

Oh come on....big csc nights under the floodlights.....it's our champions league!!!
...actually can remember whatever fans had bothered to turn up on the chequers end really annoyed when we equalised against (I think) warrington in the last minute because it meant we had to endure another 30 mins of extra time...
One day our call for the csc to be a pre season tournament will be heard by the dinosaurs at the FA who may realise the legs of a universal pre season tournament across the country....
-
Apologies that this is taking things off the original topic but a pre season CSC would be a disaster in my view. Our opponents would be dictated to us, would potentially be of minimal crowd pull and commercial value and may not be the footballing fit needed as part of our preparations. I'd happily axe the whole thing, impossible I know under the current rules but we can dream.
-
The Cheshire Senior Cup is a nice trophy to win. When Alty reach the final is it usually a good away day win or lose. Trouble is trying to fit in the CSC fixtures around the more important league and trophy games. Hosting the Final in April doesn't help.
