Quite Decent Comments from Jimmy Quinn...

"United were prevented from creating a two-goal cushion by Stuart Coburn and Quinn credits the Robins keeper for setting up a tense finale: "I think if we'd have got that second goal their heads would have dropped and we'd have got a few more, but all credit to Altrincham.

"I thought they competed and the lad O'Neill came on at the end and caused problems with his runs, they competed in the midfield and they put a man on Courtney in the hole so you'd have to say Graham (Heathcote) has done well with his tactics, but I thought that on overall play we did enough to win it."

Sounds fair enough - nice to hear some credit where it was due.

Stu had a blinder in a very entertaining game, especially in a 20 min spell in the second half when it was practically end to end, both sides going for it.
I thought all Alty players did well. We had to re-shuffle a bit with injuries, but the subs came on and did just as well as the others.

Seems obvious but it shows how much more capable we are with a left back (Jennings) and defensive midfielder (King). King in particular makes a big difference - hope we can extend his loan. otherwise we need big Val back or another loaned def. midfielder.

Couple of comedy moments- half wit Cambridge fans in the south stand chanting "dodgy keeper" at Stu;
Chris Lane whacking it into the linesman in the second half and celebrating to the home end.

Proud of the boys today. Onwards!

That's the last 2 managers we have faced who have been generous.

It is good to see thoswe sorts of comments being made and not  being patronised as is usual.

Perhaps it is because we are competing on a higher level at the moment?

It's always easier to be magnanimous about the opposition when you've not lost the game.

I'm waiting for the moment when we beat a team....and their manager is then actually complimentary about us!

To be fair to Jimmy Quinn his summary of proceedings is about as accurate as it gets from opposing managers!
