That loan striker...

That GH was looking to bring in on loan but couldn't afford (see SAM).

Could we not each donate an extra £1 at the turnstile/or throw it into a half-time 'striker bucket' to cover the shortfall?

To be honest, having fans pay for a specific player - however well intentioned - could be more trouble than its worth.

Firstly, his wages are probably going to have to be in the public domain so that the money donated is accounted for.  I don't think the club would be comfortable with this.

Secondly, some fans could view and treat him differently from the other players in the squad - he'll be someone they chipped in for specifically.  I don't see this being a healthy situation - particularly if things don't go as they should.

Anyone agree?

The way some fans are moaning about some players if they were to pay for a striker and he had a shxt game there probably wouldn't be a penny in the bucket.

fair points. Although if it was for a loan striker then couldn't his loan be terminated if it didn't work out?
