Altrincham FC First Team / Alty v Chester
« on: August 30, 2009, 01:13:51 PM »
Hello old timers,

Long time no see.

I am planning to hop on the train tomorrow seeing as York don't have a game, to see one of our "play-off rivals" (Altrincham)!

No doubt I shall be heading to the Porterhouse to start with, if you fancy joining me I should hopefully be there for about 12.

Hughesy, Ballers, WaryGarrington - I expect you to be there you cheeky chimps.

Cheers,

UKP

Hello there,

First question is - where are we having our pre-season piss up this year after last year's day out to Staly Vegas?

Second question is - is MySquare running again this year?

I suggest to deal with the first question the only option for me, looking at your fixtures and ours, might be a little session at Abbey Hey on 11th July. Will you be putting a proper team out and will anyone be going?

Hello there,

Doesn't time fly? Anyway, it's that time of the season for the visit of the once mighty now sh*te York City to Moss Lane, Altrincham FC.

Myself and a mate of mine have taken the day off and are intending to roll into Manchester the lunchtime side of 2pm before heading to sunny Altrincham for a low-key pub crawl around the town. We will obviously be starting at the pub opposite the station (mainly to check if my City scarf is still there) and going on from there, aiming for the bar at Moss Lane probably around 7pm.

Clearly you are all invited to join us whenever you are available, as some of you probably have jobs and stuff and so can't come out to play until 5pm.

Also, if any of you steward types who post on here fancy slipping me a couple of crafty passes to get into the bar at half-time that would be most kind of you, I promise not to start a fight with Hughesy or Ballers (we will be 2-0 up so they might be a little bit upset) and will be nice as pie. After all, I do sponsor your pitch so I am, in effect, a VIP!

After the match, unless we have been completely humilated to the tune of 4 or 5 (possible), we will be hanging around for a few pints before heading into Manchester and then getting the train at quarter past 1am.

See you on Tuesday.

Next Saturday you are at home (I think) and we are at Northwich in the FA Trophy.

Don't think much of a day out in Northwich to be honest, so I am planning to roll into sunny Altrincham for a few pints on the way there and on the way back. I think I will be getting in at 10 past 11 on the Metrolink and will have until 1.51pm before the train goes to Northwich from Altrincham which should leave plenty of time to get to their ground. I expect that the Porterhouse will be the first port of call as I am a lazy b*stard and my York scarf is on the wall (for good luck - we need it).

Likewise on the way back there is a 17.31 getting into Alty at 17.56 for post-match beverages.

So, Hughesy, Ballers, Gaz Warrington, Jimmy and the usual suspects, if you're up for a couple of sherberts then let's 'ave it as we've not done any beers since pre-season at Stalybridge. It is a unique opportunity for some pisstake seeing as you are above us in the league for a change!!!

York City v Altrincham, 28th December.

Hope you are coming across for a bit of a festive session, they've bloody well sent us to Alty on a Tuesday night which is one of many insults on our fixture list.

Altrincham FC First Team / My Square
« on: May 07, 2008, 09:13:56 PM »
As a participant in this season's My Square thingy, which I entered because I thought you had been relegated to Conference North and so wanted to offer some support, will there be a chance to renew again next season? Is this happening again?

Seeing as you've been relegated again I thought I would offer my support to you for another season by sponsoring a corner of the Moss Lane pitch.

It's good this relegation lark, I suppose if you ever DO go down I'll have to pay double?

 ;D ;D

I think I speak for quite a few people here in York when I say a big "good luck" for tomorrow's trip to Weymouth.

We are just down the road at Salisbury and will be wishing you well.

Whatever happens between now and when the next season kicks off in August, all the best for the future.

You have got to be the best day out in the Conference, another cracking day out to Alty, absolutely unbeatable.

As for the match, a shame York City only turned up for the last half hour and I had my head in my hands at 2-0 wondering how I was going to face the lads in the bar after the game! You should have put it to bed really but, strangely, I ended up disappointed with only 1 point. In hindsight, a fair result, I don't think you'll have much trouble staying up.

Thanks very much to Mr Heathcote for donating me his match programme. Are you lot sure there were only 348 York there?!?

See you next season, thanks again.

Altrincham FC First Team / Weather/Pitch Inspection etc
« on: January 18, 2008, 10:42:23 AM »
Hello,

Obviously lot of York fans coming across to Moss Lane tomorrow BUT looking at the weather forecast for Altrincham for today and tomorrow it's "Heavy Rain" today followed by "Light Rain" on Saturday.

What are the chances of the game surviving the downpour and I assume there is a pitch inspection planned for tomorrow morning? If so, if someone could post the time of said inspection that would be wonderful because I am not shelling out £25 for a train ticket until I know that the journey is for a reason.

You may remember our Saturday game was called off 2 seasons ago.

Altrincham FC First Team / Great News!
« on: January 15, 2008, 11:53:58 AM »
York's FA Trophy replay with Grays is now postponed giving our team a lovely rest before Saturday's match at Moss Lane, allowing key players Woolford and Farrell to recover from injury/illness.

I think the odds for a York victory have just been slashed!

Altrincham FC First Team / Tomorrow's Game
« on: December 14, 2007, 10:49:22 AM »
Is there a pitch inspection planned tomorrow morning ahead of our match in the Trophy?

I am hoping to get the train from York at 09.58 arriving in Alty at about 12.15 but can set off later if there is any doubt.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Good luck against Millwall tomorrow, your hard work over the past few years deserves a decent reward and I hope you give a good account of yourselves in front of the cameras.

Let's hope we both get through and we get a game at your place in the next round, then it might be worth opening the away end unlike tomorrow!

 ;D

Hope the day goes well for you, I shall definitely be tuning in to Match Of The Day. I just hope they mention the real Alty success story of battling against the odds as a part-time club and clearing off debts and turning the club round etc rather than the usual "plucky" butcher, baker, candlestickmaker "they'll all be on a building site on Monday morning" nonsense that you always get when commentators don't actually know about the teams properly.

Altrincham FC First Team / A View From York
« on: September 05, 2007, 03:19:01 AM »
I hope that none of the "heat of the moment" nonsense you have read tonight will turn you against our club because, at the end of the day, those who usually write on the net only do so to cause sh*te (believe me, it's why I do it too!) or because they get a little bit carried away by their disappointment.

Tonight was a fair result. Brodie was lucky to stay on the field for an elbow in the first half, and the "dodgy goal" should have been allowed. However, to contradict Mr Heathcote, the ball did cross the line FACT.

As far as the "we should be beating a pub team like Alty" is concerned, then those people obviously weren't at last year's fixture when Alty should have been 3 up by half-time!

Annoyed as I am, good luck to Joe O'Neill, a good guy who works hard who deserved a bit of revenge - maybe not on his performance tonight, but in general.
