Altrincham FC First Team / 2021/2022 Financial Results
« on: November 30, 2022, 01:25:08 PM »
I'm guessing these will appear in alot more detail on the website, but the brief details from the just released  Financial Results, ending 31/05/2022, were that the club made a loss of £192k last season, compared to a profit of £87k the previous season. Better news though for how much cash Alty have in the bank, this rose from £483k at the end of the 2020/2021 season, to £535k at the end of last season.

Always thought the Gents at Ashton Utd were a work of genius. Seemed to have limited drainage and they stank, but the fact the wall was about 5ft high and so allowed you to have a pee and carry on watching the game, what could be better. Surely we could replicate something similar in that part of the ground?

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: York City Match thread
« on: November 16, 2022, 10:55:09 AM »
As per earlier post re the response from York fans on Twitter, lots of requests from their fans asking for refunds to a fund set up only recently by the ycfc Supporters Trust, to help John Askey with funds to boost the playing squad. Guy Mowbray certainly not happy, asking for his donation back. Interesting to see where John Askey goes next, would be surprising if he's out of a job for long.

In some ways it would make sense to do this, though its possible some Wealdstone fans would have booked transport/hotels where it may not be possible to get refunds. Also there is some strike action on the railways that day, which could impact travel plans for some Wealdstone fans and indeed some Alty fans. Maybe best to leave it as it is?

Surprised we didn't go for a hybrid model this season, to at least reduce the turnover of players during the summer, and transition to full time next season.

Personally think it's way to early to be considering this, given what PP has achieved here. Its obviously looking like a long season, but even if the worse does happen , for me I would be happy if PP was still here this time next year, though i appreciate I may in a diminishing proportion of the fan base, and I don't think PP helps himself by what he said after the SC**thorpe game.

True, but at £19 a game, I think a fair few Alty fans are picking and choosing their games.

It's obviously very early in the season, and things may improve alot as it goes on and in years to come, going full time may be the right thing to have done, but I've always thought there was merit, in being the best part time team in NW England. At least if you are turning full time, do a hybrid season first, to reduce the turnover of players in one close season. Obviously we've been unlucky with a couple of long term injuries before the season even started, which the management team couldn't have envisaged, but even so we look worryingly lacking in creativity in midfield and have little presence upfront. Add in a defence that can look very porous, it doesn't look good. Disappointing crowd tonight as well, it would be interesting to know what the average crowd, the club were budgeting on this season.

After another slow start at home, thought we got ourselves back into the game as the half went on, pressed them well and unsettled them at the back, and thought we deserved the goal. The 2nd half though, we just got caught cold, and after they went 2 1 ahead, never really thought we looked like getting an equaliser. Looked a decent team Chesterfield overall and deserved their win. One point about the scroates who gathered in the popular side in the 2nd half to exchange verbals with Chesterfield fans, thought they could have been stewarded better. 2 or 3 plastic bottles were thrown towards the Chesterfield fans, which were ignored by the stewards and also a couple of fans who were standing against the barrier before these scroates arrived there, felt they had to move away. Something to maybe keep an eye on, when the next big away contingent comes to Moss Lane.

Agree about the crowd, I was expecting at least 2000, going by last season and with City and Utd not playing. An earlier post mentioned the £19.00 price. A 12% increase from last season, especially in the current economic situation, is maybe going to put off the casual fan and I wonder if that may turn out to be a mistake.  As for the game, thought overall we should have won, without playing brilliantly, and at times lacking creativity. At least in the 2nd half we played more football on the deck, compared to the long ball approach of the 1st half. As for the pen it was certainly one of those which you have see given, but with Ryan Colclough he falls over so easily at times that it's always for me, hard to know whether he has been fouled. Wait for the highlights I guess.

Thanks for the response. In terms of volume it can be loud on the pop side, and maybe just needs someone to check out the current volume levels pre match or at half time on Saturday. The music does seems to cut out at times, wifi issues maybe, and Fanfare for the Common Man always seems to stop suddenly, rather than fade out. The play list I think is brilliant, a great mix of older and new music with the new bands a great feature, which will hopefully continue this coming season.

Nicked from @eddymistra on Twitter, today was Altys 1220th game in top flight non league football since the APL was formed in 1979. This puts us level now with Northwich Vics for the most top flight games played. Kidderminster are 3rd with 1212 games, followed by Kettering and Woking.

Yes was getting abit nervous with Weymouth winning into the 2nd half.
