Title: Millwall attendance?
Post by: altrincham on October 30, 2007, 05:36:46 PM
Well it's going to be the biggest game for a long time at Mosslane and well overdue, what sort of crowd do we reckon we can get into Moss Lane?

3196 875 milwall fans; record takings at the pie van and and a two one victory for the mighty reds... you have to be positive  ;D

5 swift pints before the game and a pile on when Alty equalize on top of Mr Bradshaw 8)

4,036 with 997 from Millwall. For some reason I think this one will really capture people's imagination and we'll just break through the 4,000 barrier.

Really cannot wait for this game.

I suspect that being all-ticket will affect the home crowd, so I'll go for a total of 2985 with 702 of them from Millwall.

I don't see how making the game all ticket will adversely affect the crowd to be honest. I suppose in terms of putting off potential troublemakers it might stop a bit of that but all in all I don't think it will make a lot of difference.

Its the lack of a home game in between that will hit ticket sales in my opinion.

Obviously nowt we can do about that (don't want any injuries in a friendly etc).  Also a lot of fans may have made the decision to come on the Friday night beforehand and now they can't do that.

Needs must though of course.

Am I missing something here?

Personally I think 2,922 with 860 millwall. Its 12 years since we did any giant killing, might effect things with our league position!

I just meant that we'll lose out on the floating fans who would maybe decide on the day to come along, or who don't get round to getting hold of a ticket for whatever reason.

From memory, the last chance floaters had to climb on the Alty bandwagon was v Eastbourne at the Britannia a few years back. I think the crowd was 2,800 (ish) that day with people saying Alty had 1800-2000.

If Millwall bring 1000, still cant see us getting anything much more than 3000.

As important as that occasion was, it did not have the same prestige value that comes with a big FA Cup tie. Also, people are lazy and even though Stoke was only a short distance away some people would only go to a big game if it was played at home. I think we'll have between 2500 and 3000 "home fans" for this one.

Ahh, ok im with you now. This is true, maybe we could go round the pubs on friday night selling tickets! Frank and John would be delighted. Maybe the cockel man could do a sideline for us, he could mix it up with fa cup jellied eels to comemorate the tie!

On a serious note have we thought of offering local pubs a pair of tickets for next weeks quiz nights etc, promote the tie and all that?

We need some good media coverage over the next week, maybe we will get another slot on Granada to advertise the ticket details and good coverage in the MEN would be most effective.

The support we got from a couple of the Australian cricket team would be an interesting angle.

Not wanting to stick up for the paper mache guy but if he brings some extra media coverage and and extra 100 people through the turnstiles for the game has it not been worth while putting up with him. Once he has done his bit then throw him to the lions !!

I consider it highly unlikely that his presence (or lack of) would have any bearing whatsoever on the attendance.

That's not actually confirmed yet though is it. The site says Millwall sources say they'll bring 750 and seeing as the Chequers end  ;) holds 1,447 it's a reasonable assumption. I'm sure if they were going to bring more then more tickets would be available.

Ballers,

It says on Millwall's official site that they've been given 1,400 tickets (all standing).

Either way, that's plenty enough. I'd presume that if they sold more than 1,200 of those tickets there would be more available, just a case of where to put the segregation.

Like I said they have plenty and I'll go for 3,224. The 1,900 Alty fans who were at the Aldershot game, 500 coming down cos it's the FA Cup and 824 from Millwall.

Providing pairs of tickets at pubs for quiz nights is a great suggestion ^^^

Maybe also give the pub a number of tickers as well - "and the winner of tonights quiz is ABC who receive a bottle of very expensive wine and two tickets for Altrincham v Millwall. If people wish to buy tickets for this game tickets are available behind the bar".

would this work or would it be too difficult to adminsiter?

I don't know so don't quote me on this but I strongly suspect that we would not be able to give away tickets for the match other than the number of complimentaries permitted under competition rules.

This is because the net proceeds are split between the two clubs so to give tickets away free and gratis reduces the revenue generated and therefore Millwall's share

Sounds right to me, Phil. I believe that the club can't give away any tickets.
