7.17 ....how the hell was that not a straight red?
Even in real time you could see that warrington donkey kick jj in the thigh as jj ran past...
That ref was as bad as we have seen with an absolutly scandalous everyone watch me flourish a yellow card attitude....the man was an incompetent egotistical T**t..
-
Your spot on it was an assault not a tackle
-
Believe we've had the ref before. Don't remember him if we did
-
Horrendous challenge.
-
Red card - looks like a deliberate kick as opposed to a tackle and hence violent conduct
Any refs out there ?
Hope JJ ok - no problem if the Warrington captain has broken a bone in his foot - he can have no complaints

Great highlights as always - do we have any idea how many Warrington brought - did not look that many

That's a surprise as I thought he was decent that day.
Bar the JJ one (which he probably thought about Hulme's lunge or Densmores late one on the line) he was okay.
I just thought he spoke to players too much.

You may well be right. You could argue Dens challenge just before was more wreckless than someone sticking a leg out.
Great highlights as ever. Delightful to see a crowd in Moss Lane!

I was summarising for Radio Robins and said straightaway, at the time of the assault on JJ, it couldn't be described as a late challenge or a bad one because it wasn't a challenge at all. The ball was played past the defender on his left, and JJ ran past him on his right. Instead of turning in the direction the ball went, the defender turned to his right and planted his studs on Johnston's thigh, so how could that possibly be any sort of challenge or attempt to win the ball. It was a blatant kick that was violent conduct and should have been a straight red card, and it was that obvious watching it live, without any need for action replays. The fact the referee didn't see it that way just summed up his performance on the day. His insistence on stopping the play at regular intervals to deliver a needless lecture also incurred the wrath of the RR team, as I'm sure it did everyone else in a fantastic turnout.

The officials were last into the CSH for food after the game - I heard the ref say they had been talking with the referee assessor !
-
i don't usually criticise officials - but the first booking the referee dished out, in my view somewhere between harshly & utterly unjustifiably, to Richman had the effect of inhibiting our one straightforwardly combative midfield player & thereby affording Warrington an advantage in that area of which they made good use. From there on his credentials and performance were iffy, putting it kindly. However, to get a better standard of official - in theory at least - you have to be in a higher league, and we are where we are for the present. Heigh-ho ...

probably discussing whether to have the curry or the chicken !!!

Richman, and one of Warrington's players, were booked for perfectly good and legal challenges.
In which context the referee's decision not to send off McCarten for his assault on JJ marks him down as a complete dickhead who shouldn't be officiating at any sort of professional level.
-
In the Grantham match, I think Mr Swallow booked five players, but, significantly, he didn't give Michael Hollingsworth a second yellow when he fouled Tom Peers, a few minutes after he had previously been booked.
After seeing the replay of the McCarten foul, I can only conclude that he ducks any big decisions.
He is very young, so he has time to change, but he is rising up the referees' ladder very quickly, so watch out for him in the Premier League in a few years...
-
Awful knew what he was doing the man should be ashamed
-
McCarten has got his just reward for that assault on JJ - out for at least 3 weeks.
