I thought the last couple of generations from Altrincham would have actually been born in Wythenshawe or Withington?
I think you will find that the last NHS Maternity hospital in the borough of Altrincham  was Sinderland hospital in Broadheath and that closed in the 1960's. There were though a couple of priate maternity facilities.

Born in Hale, near enough to the ground so I could open the front door and see if they were training from the lights on that big tower.  If they were, I'd pop down and see what was happening.

Moved to Broadheath, Timperley and now Chorlton.

Blackpool - my auntie lived on the corner of Poplar Ave and Ashton for many years..

sinderland maternity was there until at least 1971

I can confirm that, although Joe was born in Wythenshawe Hospital in 1974, he spent most of the first week of his life at Sinderland (by then known as Gibson House) as it was downgraded to a home for new mothers/babies. I wonder if he actually knew that ? !

By the time our Rick arrived three years later it had been closed.

As for me.....born Hull 1947, moved to Timperley 1949, first game at Moss Lane 1953 (we lost to bloody Vics !), educated Stamford Park and Alty Grammar, three year exile in Sutton Coldfield 1970-3, then lived in Hale, Timperley, Newall Green till 1999. After a disastrous year with a mad woman in Irlam, I came back to Sale, then Baguley. Moved to Stretford two years ago. I've lived within 15 minutes of the ground for 56 of my almost 63 years !

Born in the midlands but parents moved to Hale in 1960 when I was 18 months old. Left when I was 18.

Was taken to my first Alty game by the next door neighbour when I was about 8 or 9 - in the days of Jackie Swindles - and I was hooked.

Live on the south coast now and don't get to nearly enough games.

Born and bred Timperley near Hare and Hounds, so just popped across the golf course for Moss Lane.

Lived in Liverpool and Warrington after that and now holed up in France.

Miss Alty dearly at times but only for two things, my mates and Alty FC. Not sure i'll ever grace UK shores on a full-time basis again, but i'll always make it to Moss Lane when I can!

Have no idea who the opposition where. Then, as now, only interested in Alty. We used to play in red and white quarted shirts then.

Born in Alty... Urban Drive in 1953.. started watching Alty with my Dad around 1959/60.. I was Alty's first Mascot in about 62/63 ish ..

Joined the Army in 69 and always watched Alty when on leave where possible...

Have lived in Germany Belize, Belguim. Scotland and various places in South England (Yukkk). Moved to Shrewsbury in 91 for my last two years in the Army  and decided to settle there purely to give the kids some stability in there education..

Have watched various local teams within my area whilst travelling...   Watched Shrewsbury for a couple of seasons but could never get them in my heart. Thats the reason I travel to ML ... Hardly ever miss a home game of any description. We now go to more away fixtures  whenever possible...

Years ago when Alty trained on the pitches at the bottom of Urban Drive.. I used to give the then Alty Right Winger (Think his name was Ronnie Taylor) a cross bar on my bike down to training) he always got a bollocking from the coach  :D

Happy days....

Cmon Alty ...

PS Sinderland Maternity Hospy sounds a fkn busy place  :D

Born in Warrington, brought up in Lymm, been Alty fan and follower since 1978 when went to my first game with "Uncle Roy" (RIP). Now live in Baguley with wife (Timperley lass) and 2 kiddies. Been working at Alty as volunteer for last 7 or so years too since moved to Baguley. Alty is the only team I am passionate about although I will watch any football live or otherwise. Mum wouldnt let me go to Wembley in 1978 - said I was too young, but went in '82 & '86.

Y'all ready for this....born in Macclesfield maternity hospital 1964 to Irish parents....in my defence neither I, nor my parents had much say in the matter....thankfully only there for a day. Brought up in Mere (not the posh bit) and lived there for 19 years, then Leeds, Hull,  Preston, Hull, Leeds, Bournemouth, London, Leeds, Wexford (Ireland) where I've now been living for the last seven years and will be for the forseeable future.

Been supporting Alty for about 32 years now.

Born and Bred in Blackpool for 24 years, then Stockport for 7 and now Timperley for the last 4 due to the wife being a Timperley local.

There seems to be a few with Blackpool connections on here! I might have followed Blackpool but my dad never let me go due to all the football trouble there used to be in the 80's etc. I'm righting the error of his ways by getting my lads to support Alty actively.

Think my dad first took me to a game in 1961 and watched all through the rubbish and then the Swindells years before a mate at school got me to watch City in 1967, which turned out to be a pretty good time to do so and was at Newcastle to see them win the league!! Back at Alty in the early 70's and then missed all the good stuff by watching City again lates 70's early 80's!!! Started again in 1994 and season ticket holder for a few years now and eldest daughter is 4th generation of family to watch the Robins.......grandad being club secretary from 1930 to 1948 according to the clock on our fireplace!!

I was born in Colwyn Bay, though I don't remember much as I was young at the time.  A few months in London, years in Knutsford,  more years in Hale...then I moved out...Preston, Bristol, Leeds and now York.  Add in a few trips to India and Pakistan (wonderful country) between that lot.

First game was at home to Scabbyboro in 1979.  Still got family in the Alty area but it's very hard finding time to get to many games.

ALTY FC.

Bloody Hell reading this thread is like a who's who of the Alty faithful.

OK for my two penneth' - Born in Great Harwood (near Blackburn) but moved to Ulverston before I can remember. Back to north Manchester (Worsley) in 1966 until Polytechnic in Nottingham for 5 great years when Cloughie and Forest (and Notts CCC) were at their peak. Moved to Timperley 21 years ago.

Followed the Robins intermittently when possible in between having a season ticket at Old Trafford and watching Great Harwood Town until giving up around the time the Glaziers took over and Great Harwood went tits up a few years ago.

Now one of the faithful with a season ticket and even taken to attending the occasional away match.

Love it !

The wife thinks it's sad for a man of my age- But women ? they never get the message   - After all what else is there to do on a Saturday afternoon ?

Born in Wythenshawe, moved to Stretford when I married Mrs T. Then off to Belgium for three years before returning to the UK and Altrincham (Timperley) 23 years ago! I have been supporting Alty since 1974 when my brother-in-law Phil convinced me to come and have a look at Alty, not looked back since!

Born in Park Hospital davyhulme, lived Willowtree Road Hale, Arthog Road Hale, New Zealand (69-72), Arthog Road til '80, London til 86, Sittingbourne Kent til 90, Paris til 92, Harrow till 99 and Buckinghamshire since.

Surprised nobody was born in Southfields Maternity in Bowdon my sister(63) and two brothers (66 and 68) were; and my mum was a midwife there.  My first match watching Alty after NZ was a dash from Southfields to Moss Lane after the brith of my cousin.  We beat lancaster 5-2 and a young but talented 16 year old was getting stick from the fans everytime some Clogger booted him 6 foot in the air.  It was the first time in my life I heard the famous "Bloody Hell Heathcote" which has echoed around Moss Lane ever since.

Born in Wythenshawe, left Alty aged 6 months.  Back from age 2-5 then various northern places until High Wycombe aged 12 (parents still there) Exeter, tunbridge wells and now Bath for the last 11 years.

So left Alty aged 5 having never been to a game, not lived within 150 miles of the place since I was 12 and I'm still addicted (life member of SAFE / STAR)- how did that happen?

I can't believe that many of the other residents of Stamford Brook would ever describe themselves as living in Broadheath...!
