Top ten grounds you never want to visit in a league game again
« on: February 14, 2008, 09:58:57 PM »

We have visited many grounds over the years that we dislike for one reason or another. Here is my top ten (in no particular order).

1. Vauxhall Motors (Never won there)
2. Alfreton Town (Where it is currently 1973 and rather bleak)
3. Bishop Auckland (Makes Alfreton look modern)
4. Spennymoor (Horrid place)
5. Redditch United ("I'm Redditch I am")
6. Stalybridge Celtic (Never seen us win there in over 10 visits)
7. Emley (How hard was it to beat them!!!!)
8. Radcliffe Borough (Whatever happened to Raccyboy and Ow'd Tower?)
9. Frickley Athletic (Slag heap central)
10. Blyth Spartans (The unofficial north pole)

The list could be longer but it would be interesting to see other people's top ten.

For me probably most of those, but would add Farsley to that list - horrible little dump and impossible to find

Bish is a good call. Only 2 and a bit sides. I went that season when they had to get the darlo stewards in because of the bother in the return leg.

Haven't Bishop Auckland moved grounds since we last played there?

What about the Senior Cup semi-final the other year?

I thought the ground was completely lacking atmosphere but had quite nice facilities actually (especially the club)

After today, i think you can add Rushden and diamonds. They represnt a place that doesnt exist. oh and they have no atmosphere and judging by the stewards think they are a league club despite the fact the whole of their biggest stand was empty.

Guiseley.

Just because when someone paid for the matchball when we lost 2-0 (it was my birthday) I got shouted at for having it
Last game of the season when we got promoted. Plus thinking about the place makes me think of Yorkshire and the blandness
of the small ground.

Actually, we only had a poor record against Emley when they were called "Wakefield and Emley". Before that, we beat them 3-0 at their old ground, and beat them 1-0 at home to win the Unibond.

My top 10:
1-Rushden
2-Frickley
3-Moor Green
4-Spennymoor
5-Redditch
6-Workington
7-Bishop Auckland
8-Boston
9-Woking
10-Tamworth
