Given their history against a certain north-west non-league club he's deliberately playing the game down to make it look like it doesn't matter, when it really does matter an awful lot to them.

I grew up with a TV advert showing Owen Oyston (his father) being pushed into a pool with one of his badly built housing estates in the background....

We beat the bastards twice in two in years.....get in!!
