Half Time Announcements
« on: November 22, 2008, 10:01:42 PM »

I stand in the crowd at half time and wait with anticipation for the announcer to tell me the half time scores of other conference games up and down the country.

But all i get is how many times someone can keep a size one football going up and down. Either that or I get to listen to something out of the top ten of the hit parade from 1974.

Why is it at almost all away games you get the half time scores yet at Moss Lane we get nothing. Without results it means i cant cheer if Vics or FGR are winning !!!

Now I know we dont have the most technically gifted commentary box but i am sure someone can run (or walk for that matter) from the bar to the box and read out the results.

(why i am not in the bar - the credit crunch is hitting my wallet that is why)

At least with some scores it would make the 20 minute wait in the snack bar queue entertaining for a least 2 minutes.

Perhaps full time scores might also be good to hear?

Seriously though can we have half time scores read out please - perhaps in the style of Pub Singer?

The Blue Square thing has to be one, its part of the sponsorship deal.

And I am damn sure that if you write down the scores and pass them to Rafo he will read them out.

Does anyone know when "Deflate the Volunteers" week ends?

I have only just started Ecky, besides I would never make it up those steps with my dodgy knees.

Next week it is the turn of the turnstile operators followed by the people who sweep up the ground after match and empty the bins, let alone the people who do the Yankee, golden goal, football card and quiz nights.

Goddam anyone would think I posted this just to get a reaction  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

If you see the kit that we have to use for the tannoy, it couldn't be much further away from an Iphone.

I would like to complain about people who say "Tannoy" when they mean "public address system".

Tannoy is a brand name! You people!

I would like to complain about people complaining about the most trivial things

But really I am serious, is it posible to have results read out or not, i do think it would be good if we could have them joking aside.

And I'm serious too...if you or anyone else gave them to Rafo he would read them out I am sure.

Its a good idea..it just needs someone to do it..

Jenga mate , people on here revel on being Tinpot.

I started in 1971, by 74-5 we got scores announced. No mobiles then!

No criticism of Rafo either before someone starts.

No idea what that means but I think this post has been discussed quite sensibly up to this point.

If Rafo gets the scores I bet  he'll read them out.

I know he enjoys a fag at half time...which is his right as his wages are £0.00

Rafo get yourself a mobile phone or iphoneythingmejiggy then we dont need a volunteer and it comes out out of you mobile phone bill but you will be comforted in the fact that we all know the half time scores ;D

I assume it would need someone who has access to the mainstand to be be able to be runner ?

Raffo has a Radio

And also a mobile as far as I know

So, as Ecky said I feel sure that if someone let him know the scores he'd read them out (sorry if I'm making commitments on your behalf Raffo) However could I ask that someone who doesn't already carry out some sort of voluntary function on match days pick this up please?
