Any FA cup home match against a League club is special .Hate to sound like a Jethro Tull anthem but sadly it's been 27 long years since our last appearance in the 3rd Round and the dosh to be earned from a good run nowadays and with it helping to bring our ground improvements etc closer , makes results like this a double whammy .

Agreed. Enjoyable as it is to look back at Spurs etc but those mean nothing to younger fans. The Trophy means even less.  Gutted about Saturday which was our opportunity to win the tie.

How young are we talking? I'm 28 and absolutely get it. Our FA Trophy record since the turn of the millennium has been a disgrace.

On another note, the draw has been incredibly generous towards Buxton so far...

Third draw in a row against seventh-tier opposition, and at home too.

Great opportunity for them.

That is bad Andrew, lets hope we can make some progress this season. Get the younger and older fans excited with a cup run.

That's another awful list of failure , once again i think it is 30 years since our last appearance in a Trophy semi final against Wycombe.  We were once universally known
as ' renowned cup battlers' and indeed we were .   Sadly all of that is now just a distant memory .

Being old enough to remember the times when we were both a great cup AND league team, I can confirm that the lamentable record in the FA Trophy over the last 30 years is something that back then we'd never have believed could happen. Prior to 1977 our record in the FA Trophy was crap but the club got such a huge boost from that run to the semis in 1977. To then win it in 1978 made us a silverware winning team and that can become a habit. A trophy, any trophy (including the CSC) can change a team's mentality. An FA Trophy run is waaaaay overdue.
