St Mirren chairman Stewart Gilmour:
(Having undertaken a very public cost cutting drive to avoid going into administration) "The last time we went down (from the Scottish Prem League) we made £50k, while the 2nd bottom club lost £3.2mill and the third bottom £2.8mill. We kept our house in order.
"I think there is a change now in Scottish football in that there is an attitude where houses have to be kept in order.
"It would have been foolhardy of us to spend money we didn't have on players. If we had spent that money & still gone down, we probably would not have survived"
St Mirren are 2nd bottom of the SPL and have just announced the selling of their old ground (to pay off old debts) and the building of a new ground.
Are you listening Crawley, Boston etc?
