I wonder how many Barrow supporters were in the crowd of 8,462 for that FA Cup Second Round tie at Moss Lane back in January 1968?

If memory serves (and often it doesn't nowadays) Orient got half of the popular side (towards the Golf Road end).  Around a thousand? I don't recall a peep from them to be honest.

Your memory serves you correctly on this occasion!

Slightly off topic but I think I remember being at Holker Street for an FA Trophy 5th round replay in front of 5000+ (5,721?)

Would that game attract that crowd now?

Wycombe (91 to 93) bought big numbers. Kiddy the day we got relegated in 97 had a few (not loads by any means) too. Recently Oxford, Luton and Exeter deserve honourable mentions too but numbers wise over the last 20 yeas in league matches I'd have to say Wrexham have brought the largest followings I can recall seeing to Moss Lane. If we'd managed to stay up of course, Stockport would likely win this hands down

Crowd V Sheffield United was approx 10 thousand!
Crowd AT Sheffield was 12433; crowd at Moss Lane was 5137. Sheff U might have brought a bit over a thousand. The Cult is no doubt right about the Cheshire League crowds - I'm not QUITE old enough to remember.
Info from footysphere.com article about both games - 12500 in first match and just under 10000 in second! They may have duff info.

Big Crowds indeed back in the 60s

Back then Wigan used to play at Springfield Park if memory serves me well.

They played at Springfield Park until the 90s. They were certainly still there when they got promoted in the 70s.

I remember them bringing a lot of fans to Moss Lane in the NPL games in the 70s. They always outnumbered us from what I remember. Or maybe it just seemed that way..
