Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Band signs for...
« on: May 25, 2007, 01:04:42 PM »
Bandy is one of those players that as fans we will always remember, like others that have moved on over the years. We will miss him, Mrs Band and Bandy junior of course, but its not as if we won't see them. I want to wish him good luck and look forward to seeing them in the bar on Boxing Day or New Years Day maybe??

Can't see that happening.

Surely Hyde will play Stalybridge on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.......whilst we battle it out in those huge derby fixtures against Leigh RMI....

I can't wait.

Tbh I dont know. Much as I would love to be ging back to the likes of Burton, York and Oxford next season, I also want Geoff to stay on.

Sorry....but there's simply no debate as far as I'm concerned....

...Give me back the Blue Square Premier any day!

The club is always bigger than any individual.

Mind you, if we were to be reprieved and belonged to the BS Premier instead of the the BS North......wouldn't that mean that our dear Mister Goodwin would have to resign all over again....?

Imagine, for one frightening moment, an Alty back four comprising:

Aspinall; Andy Scott; Munroe and Talbot.

Slower than Ian Tunnacliffe pulling Liberace's grand piano through a treacle slick whilst balancing a medicine ball on his head?

Nurse, pass me my Prozac.....

This time last year many people were perplexed that Karl Munroe remained at the club after some poor performances. Perhaps Andy Scott deserves that same chance?

Munroe had a good two thirds of the season...but his form deteriorated in the final third of the season when he amassed far too many bookings and developed an unfortunate habit of conceding ridiculous penalties.

In my view, Andy Scott was a very poor signing last year and I am dismayed to learn that we have retained him.

From the Messenger:

"They were joined by promising striker Pat McFadden and versatile defender Andy Scott in signing on and Heathcote believes his squad for the new season is now virtually complete."

Please, please....somebody reassure me that this news about Andy Scott is a journalistic error.
"Versatile defender"?
You must be joking!

From the Messenger:

"People will be asking why has he kept him?' or why has he not kept him?' but my belief is that if these players were good enough for the Conference, they are good enough for the Conference North."

He wasn't anywhere near good enough for the Conference, as anyone who suffered that afternoon at Southport would surely testify.

HUGELY disappointing news.

Delighted by this....Bushell will be immense in Conference North and I got the Rose/Munroe partnership I hoped for

Ecky,

I truly hope that your prediction is fulfilled.

I have to say that, for my money, Bushell was a huge disappointment last season.

Jezza,

Just promise me that you won't get us all snowed under by a blizzard of emails, as you managed to do a few years ago when you got all excited about those lorries blocking fuel depots!

6354
Won't you look a bit incongruous wearing a pair of Alty shorts on Morecambe beach though?

Travelling Alty,

Will you be selling your homemade lemon cakes at the new snack bar?

I did not say that Talbs was a centre forward, I said he was a big target man i.e. somebody who is tall and can jump and would go up for corners !

If he had put away some of the chances he had at Tamworth, then maybe people would better understand what I mean

Mick,

To be fair to Talbs, I really don't recall him having a chance to score at Tamworth.
As we didn't possess any winger that afternoon, there were no decent crosses for him to feed on.

Any photographs of Wembley 1978 should feature that classic banner:

"Kate Bush Loves Heathcote".

Anyone know who was the mastermind behind that one?

Ecky,

I find that when Alty play Tamworth, standing behind the snack bar is frequently the best option....

I do not see other players cueing up to join the club?

Players such as Steve Davis, Jimmy White......or even Ray Reardon to partner Talbot in central defence?

It is now imperative we get as many as last season's squad to stay with us for our promotion fight.

Apart from Andy Scott...!
