There's an interview with Darren Tinson in today's issue of the Non-League Paper.

Could it be John Bond's son, Kevin?!

Incidentally, didn't Kevin Bond apply for the manager's job at Alty on at least one occasion a few years ago?

Oh and perhaps consider this Jezza - Steward roll at Alty???

Steward roll?

May I be the first to indulge in this new Moss Lane pastime by volunteering to push a supine Phil Taylor along the full length of the pitch?

mister gazelle,

Well, you are certainly correct in your statement that Gary Hulmes made his Alty debut at Worcester City.

It was the Alliance Premier League Cup Semi-Final First Leg on Monday, 9th February 1981.

However, the scorer of Alty's goal in the 1-0 victory was John Rogers.

Gary Hulmes appeared on the Alty team sheet on a total of eight occasions.....but never scored a goal for the club.

When I do get to a match I am first to get to Jenny afterwards to savour victory / wallow in defeat with a glorious pint of delicious John Smiths.

I probably made about 5 home matches last season and none away and I make my decision upon counting my weekly takings and looking at the week's bills...if i can afford £15 for entry, a burger and a pint then I'll go...if I've only got the entry money or less I don't.

I saw every single home and away league match in our conf N play off winning season.

However my income has remaind static while absolutly everything else has risen ridiculously so God knows how many games I'll get to this season.

Jezza,

Why don't you save yourself some money by stopping smoking then?

Just think how many games at Moss Lane you could attend if you weren't spending money on cigarettes.

(cowers on back seat and awaits diatribe from irate taxi driver.....!)

I think they need James Bond to sort out the mess at The Victoria Stadium...

Bushell was one of the big disappointments of last season, particularly after we had seen him have an impact whilst on loan to us during the previous season, so I can't say that I'm distraught at this news.

Plus, he's 34, so he has a limited shelf life.

good luck to andy scott too not his fault he wasnt up to it but im sure hes better than anyone on here.

Not too sure about your last statement, as I have it on very good authority that Jacqui Forster is a fine overlapping left full back with a Clive Freemanesque shot.

« on: June 14, 2007, 08:54:11 PM »
Apologies, gentlemen, I forgot all about this.
It must have been due to the post traumatic shock following the news of Andy Scott's departure...

Anyhow, the answer is Alan Carr.

His father, Graham Carr, made 14 appearances for Alty at the start of the 1970/71 season under the management of Laurie Brown.

Details below:

Most of these (Andy Scott especially) tried their best but weren't up to it. Len Cantello was another thing altogether. He had the class but was totally unfit and just took the money and the p**s. I remember one game (can't remember who the opposition was) when we were attacking the club end (20/20 now) and we had a corner. He just stood there and made no attempt to go for it (as it wasn't precisely 'right' for him) as the ball went past him. Kingy turned round to look at the bench and stretched out his arms in a "what th f***'s going on here?" gesture, and seconds later Cantello was substituted. I don't think he played again.
[/quote]

It must have been someone other than Kingy, because JK and Cantello never played alongside each other in an Alty team.

But I agree, Cantello was a disaster!

Alas, Andy Scott is destined to be remembered in the same category as the likes of such Alty luminaries as Dave Swannick; Chris Young; Paul Williams; Gary Hulmes; Jason Van Blerk; Len Cantello....and so forth.

That terrible moment when he gifted the ball to a Kidderminster Harriers forward on the edge of his penalty area about twenty minutes into his Moss Lane debut last January still haunts my nightmares.....

I have to echo Ecky re. Gary Talbot.
A great servant to Alty.....but time catches up with everyone inexorably (after all, even my old Alty hero Mal Bailey had to leave Moss Lane eventually!).

Dare I propose a joint testimonial for Talbot and Mark Maddox?

« on: June 14, 2007, 04:57:43 PM »
Ok so we're not in BSN anymore, but if pottsy doesnt get taken on in MLS and he's gained a high level of fitness should we still give him a trial pre-season?

I think we should. He terrorised a few defenses in conf national a couple of seasons ago, if only for 5 minutes before he needed a fag and a kebab! He's got great natural ability and coupled with fitness could be a great player for us.

Thoughts?

...puts on anti-slate helmet and waits for onslaught of slating from jezza and cult.....

Mr teasybeaver,

No slating from me.....but I do wonder if Pottsy will ever achieve the necessary "high level of fitness" that you mention?

Don't get me wrong, Potts was a fantastic asset for us during the Conference North season, where he was a key factor in setting up plenty of chances for Colin Little, but I do believe that bringing him back now would be a retrograde step.

Isn't it all linked to a Eurostar terminal not too far away, hence their new sponsorship deal with Eurostar?
