Those of you who depend on Metrolink should be aware that, having scheduled to close the Altrincham line for one full weekend, plus the following Saturday, there has actually been no service now for FOUR full weekends ! Worryingly, this weekend's closure was never formally announced, and we only became aware of it because notices for the replacement bus service were put up at 4.30pm on Friday.

Regular readers of my posts will know that I'm an old cynic, and won't be surprised when I say "watch the bastards do it again NEXT weekend."

SO........if you're going to be tram dependent for the Burnley match, check on Saturday morning that they are in fact running - the replacement bus takes more than twice as long to get there, as it calls at every station.

There are already signs up outside Timperley Tram Station indicating where to get the replacement Bus Service next weekend

Working in Manchester, there were posters on the trams and at Piccadilly all week. Interestingly enough, there was supposed to be no service to Altrincham for the whole weekend, but trams were running to Altrincham by 3pm.

I will keep an eye out over the week to see if there are is any planned maintainance this weekend

Regardless of whether notice was given or if trams were working by 3pm it is a total disgrace.

I'm convinced that Metrolink is actually run by the Conference Management Committee.

If they're giving notice it presumably means work has to be done. It's inconvenient but if work's gotta be done how else could they do it?

Can't see this happening. England play Sri Lanka at Old Trafford in a sell out game on Saturday. If they do stop the trams on the day I would think that there would be a riot!! But there again.....

If they were as concerned about Customer Service as they are about profit they'd do it overnight just like they were compelled to do with certain bits of the City Centre refurb

Bring back the old Trains i say.

These Metrolink things are crap.

I have never known a so called service needing so many repairs.

If it keeps needing repairs then it's obviously not fit for purpose...Bring back the old Trains.

Never was a problem with them.

maybe we should organise a 'Cycle for Mad Dog' where everyone comes on their bike and donate any money they would have spent on the tram to the Mark Maddox fund
