Great from Hulmey, what a genuine lad. Doesn’t know our fixtures..that was quality!

I remember this lad well when we were at FC the other week...very impressive. He’s a big strong lad, should prove to be a great signing if he gets in the side. Also quick for a big lad ...would offer a great threat on corners and set pieces too, something we seem to lack. I think this is a great loan for the rest of the season.

He is an 18 year old midfielder, a Blackburn Rovers academy product who has recently been with Stockport Town and earned massive plaudits for his performances with them. His profile, along with those of the other new signings, will be on the main site shortly.

Ok thanks for that ...so is he on loan to us for the season like the other younger lads?

The lad who came on as the 3rd sub at Curzon...is he a new signing? There’s a tweet from Stockport Town yesterday congratulating Callum Dolan for making his debut for us yesterday ...anyone know anything about this? I would have thought the Club would have announced if we had made a new signing...

According to Wigan’s website, Joe has joined on a Youth Loan until the end of the season..as opposed to the usual month.

We had the best out of  Clee wouldn't want him back ...

Very true but even a slightly past it Clee would be decent.

Keeper and no.9 should be the priority.

Their top scorer, Jake Beesley, is on a season-long loan from Salford - I wonder if they have the power to cut it short and send him here?

Speaking of another Jake, Stalybridge have a young goalkeeper called Jake Turner on loan from Bolton, who is out of contract at the end of the season. He's highly-rated and ex England U18, but then again hadn't Dawber been capped?  ???

He’s no longer at Stalybridge, been recalled by Bolton. Much as I like Nicky Clee, I don’t think he would be the answer for us, I think he is definitely past his best...but Drench would be an upgrade, if we are not to give Elliot an extended run. I feel Elliot has been  badly done by ...dropped for a couple of errors at Kiddy when TT has made many more errors before and since, yet seems to be undroppable.

1. Jake Moult for me, been an inspirational skipper with some outstanding performances. I think he has benefited from not being moved around this season, or covering in the back 4 as he has in the past. Improving with age...he wins header after header despite not being the tallest in the middle of the park. Long range passing has improved too, complete midfielder at this level.

2. Tom Hannigan....a long run of good fitness has shown him to the guy we bought from Fylde. A warrior at the back, makes very few mistakes. Has marshalled the back 4 all season and contender with Jake for player of the season for me.

3. Jordan Hulme. Can frustrate at times, particularly with the string of silly bookings mainly for dissent culminating in suspension. However, a great leader of our line..the focal point of our attack and a great return of goals. He carries the load up front mainly on his own, works his ass off game after game and has lots of assists to go with his goals. A real character too.

*grabs popcorn and waits for this thread to develop*

I’ll help you along Flynny...I’m a little surprised at this. I understand the need for players to get game time if they are not being picked...but by doing this are we saying that TT is untouchable? Let’s be honest, he makes his fair share of mistakes ...that fresh air kick was laughable...and as One Needham said on a different thread Elliot was dropped unceremoniously after a couple of mistakes at Kiddy. By the same token, then TT should have been dropped on numerous occasions. I have supported Tony in the past, but that is wearing thin. Compare him to the Stockport keeper (as an example) ...no contest.

I feel a little sorry for Elliot, albeit he has youth on his side and keepers tend to mature and improve later in their careers.

Signed this morning for Preston North End, 2.5 year deal. Good to see him get this move, another loanee who showed the right stuff when with us.

That’s a blow...been our best outlet the last few games and showed real commitment to the cause. That’s 2 great loanees we’ve lost lately, I guess that goes with the territory, sadly.

At least Hulmey is back tomorrow...I’d play Max definitely now, along with Ringo to start. We need to shed this feeling of their invincibility over us.....they are not world beaters, just need to test their mettle by getting a goal or 2 up for a change.

Happy New Year!

I have to agree about the short corner routine. I’m struggling to remember a single time it has been successful, or anything meaningful coming from it. Hemmings crossed in a couple of good ones yesterday which looked a lot more threatening ....meanwhile the opposition yet again score with a header direct from a corner ...to add to the one at Stockport only a few days ago.

The boys must be acting on instructions...and whilst I generally applaud our style of playing and using the ball, there comes a time at any level when the ball needs to be chucked into the mix. Sort it out Phil!
