Those away fans who haven’t got a ticket can watch it on TV so definitely no need to give them anymore tickets.

It's easy to say that when you aren't being asked to make up the lost gate receipts

I think what you need to consider is would you rather gain a bit of gate money or consolidate a play off spot?
Any cash lost would be more than compensated by having a better shot of promotion.

The balance will tip to Oldham if they spread out along the pop side and all impetus will shift across to them. This is certainly not the time to concede the initiative at this late stage of the season, TV money or not. You can't put a price on home/away support and it's effect on the result. We should accept any shortfall in attendance income in favour of the greater good.

The decision to televise the game means we get a £7k tv fee, which pretty much balances out gate receipts from if we gave Oldham say an extra 500 tickets. Therefore, I’d be surprised now if Oldham got any additional tickets when a) we don’t really need the cash and b) they can all watch it on the box and c) it would give them a leg up in a crucial game where every little card we can stack in our favour we must take.

And let’s be honest, in a far from full Boundary Park last Saturday Chesterfield didn’t get anywhere near a full away allocation, so they can get back in their box if they start whining about it.

I reckon tomorrow with the usual limited Gateshead away support we’ll still have over 3000 in, so with a positive result in tomorrows key game then I can see Oldham home ticket sales ticking up & ideally something around 3,500 home fans in would be possible.

This game is totally about beating Oldham Athletic, not making a few more grand on gate receipts. What do you want? A better chance to beat Oldham and improve our playoff sport or a few more quid in the coffers that won’t actually make much difference.

No question, the away end is for away fans, the pop side is for home fans.

Every advantage we can get counts from here on in.

We can go back to being the friendly small club when it's Bradford and MK Dons patting us on the head in league 2. I'd rather we didn't then either but you get the point.

Well it's pretty well unanimous on here then! 👍
Let's just hope that the Club feel the same way.
Good point re Chesterfield at Oldham.
Also agree with the Bradford comment.

Heartened to hear we're almost all on the same page. The TV money should be used to compensate for any loss of gate revenue we might suffer. Hopefully we can attract some guest fans on the day to take up the slack and fill the pop side anyway 🤞
