Title: Dorking Match Thread..
Post by: Alty Dave on November 29, 2023, 10:46:36 AM
With this turn in the weather to very cold, I'd be surprised if the game was on. -3c every night for rest of week forecast.

Shame, looking forward to the match on Saturday. let's hope for some warmer weather..

According to a posting on their Forum we have assured them that we have effective covers on the pitch and the game will be going ahead.

Interesting, we'll see.

Yep. Barring injuries would do the same with the line-up

If Lewis Baines is available, I'd bring him in alongside James Jones.

No idea why people want Cooper out of the team

Cant see it being on looking at the forecast , regardless of pitch covers

I totally agree. He's been great for us. I can only think it's to prevent the other CB's getting restive? That shouldn't be a reason though should it?

If I was being picky (and I'm not, both are decent options) Cooper was in a poor placement for one of the Rochdale goals. But everyone was off that day.

Very True , we were not at it at Wilbutts Lane , one to forget ......but what bouncebackability 👏

My own suggestion was simply based on the fact that I'd rather only swap one and you play Baines full stop if he's available, whereas James Jones and Jake Cooper is more of a toss up.

I'd be happy with either of them, the order in my head is 1. Baines 2= Cooper 2= J.Jones 4. Roscoe

Given the Cheshire Cup selection perhaps the manager is thinking of bringing Baines and Cooper back in for Saturday, which I think everyone would be fine with.

The dodgy bit looks to be in front of the main stand and the community hall, i suppose if we cover these well enough!

Frost covers I fear on their own might not be enough. I don’t know if United say have got any pitch heater lamps we can borrow. It’s absolutely freezing. Dorking very unlucky two Saturday trips up here might be done by the weather, if it’s 3rd time lucky bound to be a Tuesday. Really hope we can get it on though as I suspect a large gate & another home win.

Given it was a cold start last Saturday (albeit a couple of degrees warmer) it gave the ground staff a good chance to understand which bits would be tricky - there was still frost in front of the CSH

Info on Facebook is that pitch inspection at noon tomorrow. Sounds ominous. If it's unfit then it won't improve overnight with minus 4 forecast. Another Tuesday night move for a Saturday fixture in the offing with a reduced attendance on the cards.

I understand the rationale behind leaving that Saturday blank... but it might start looking like a poor call on reflection if the backlog starts piling up.

Pitch looks frosty, -3c overnight, partial covers are on. Not looking good.

Beginning to look like another blank Saturday 🙄

Also according to Alexa, maximum temperature is 1 DegC tomorrow. I think it's very unlikely and I'm expecting my younger foster daughters training tonight and match tomorrow to be called off too, even though they play on a 3G all weather pitch.

Think there may be some confusion about the pitch inspection time. Lunchtime? We're in the North. Breakfast, Dinner and Tea. Nowt like lunchtime. 😂

Never mind undersoil pitch heating. Can’t even buy a secondhand pitch lamp ☹️

At 2pm nobody had access to the weather forecast and needed to fire up ceefax to find out what was common knowledge. No problem with the game being called off but the delay in making what was a clear and obvious outcome was pure pantomime and so untypical of the club. I await an "Oh no it isn't" response. 😁

pointless right now IF they are looking at different stadium options. Anyway only 3 National League games are on today so its not like we are much different to most other clubs this level. Shame though... would have been much better to have played today of course.

Yes. A win would have taken us back up to fourth.

Or best efforts to see if the game could be played?

Dorking not travelling until Saturday so I’m not sure who lost out?

On the upside, Rochdale lost to Bromley, would have gone abovbe us if they'd won. We're still 7th.
