Jim Harvey strikes back!
« on: December 11, 2016, 06:11:21 PM »

As quoted in an article in today's issue of the Non League Paper:

"I do think that they (Alty) have acted hastily. I wasn't given enough time and that really disappoints me.

I think they should have allowed me more than ten league matches - I took over a team who had just been relegated and who had a poor start to the season. Things weren't going to improve just like that.

There are too many players in the squad who have maybe been at the club for too long, on good money.

I was trying to change things but when players are under contracts, good contracts - you can't move them on.

It's their club, the can run it how they like, but it's a shame because I felt I would have kept them in the league."

I'm sure he'll get hammered for much of what he said, particularly on here. But, basically most of what he said is correct. Don't think we'd have stayed up though.

We didn't improve in any department over the course of his ten games in charge, and in some areas we got worse. The minimum I expected of him was an improvement in organisation and we didn't even see that. By all accounts, under Matt Doughty we've actually made progress this past week. Perhaps it wasn't the players fault.

More tellingly, we've had too many players of late for whom two weeks would have been too long !

What he fails to say is that he planned to walk later the same week but wanted to wait if he got sacked so he could get a payout

And he has never had players under contract at other clubs?  Who have been at the club for some time?

Although the damage had already been done his record was worse than Youngs and only two half decent signings, mc williams and wilko

Jim talked a good game at the start. Sadly, that was about it I'm afraid:-

League Games: P10 W1 D0 L9 F8 A25 Pts3

I thought this too. Surely it's par for the course and something you'd expect to deal with.

We haven't exactly got a massive amount of them either.

Grahame Rowley even made an appearance in yesterday's issue of The Observer.

Perhaps not the ideal 'claim to fame' but at least it's better than an interview in the Non League Paper:

Surprised by that reaction, he surely knew that time was critical and no improvement ensued. Perhaps more concerned that two dismissals in close succession will damage his CV. I reckon he's an ok manager with loads of funds to push him along.
