The commentary on the BBC online is just bizarre - at half-time sounds like someones left a microphone switched on a we can hear people in the press box discussing everything unaware its being broadcast.

C'mon Alty

I am happy though that GH got a little emotional on the sidelines, shows the fight is there after the meeting.
Title: Re: Kidderminster Match Thread

We'll wait for the review from those at the game, but given what I heard about the match, if that tit Dino comes on slagging off the management or performance he should be banned from the forum for trying to destabilise the club.

Just my opinion...
Title: Re: Kidderminster Match Thread
Post by: gazwarrington on September 04, 2010, 04:58:38 PM
6pts from safety already is not great,  although I feel with a little bit of luck (and finishing) we may have got maybe even a win.

Worryingly though these are players GH has brought in himself and to quote what I have just head on the radio "No use having a striker who can't score" ... Or have we just been spoilt with Col over the past years ?

Title: Re: Kidderminster Match Thread
Post by: Alty Dave on September 04, 2010, 05:10:23 PM
I counted at least 5 times the goalie was beaten and a defender cleared the ball somehow off the line, as well as at least 2 Tevez style shots with gaping goals.

Then as I thought might happen joseph let them through and in the ball went.

penalty was harsh, as Smithy saved fierce shot with his chest, ball bounced off the floor and hit his hand, it was accidental and happened in a flash. We could also of had a penalty.

all in all we should have won but the gods were against us today, we did show some fight today and i feel we can get out of this with a bit of luck and more hard work and better finishing. Sam Hewson looks promising.

Just back.  We didn't deserve to loose and it was not a penalty.  The ref was a true wanker.  I thought Williams and Smith played well throughout but I'm afraid the same could not be said of Joseph.  Lawton continued to play the majority of the second half looking slightly injured after hurting himself in the first half.  I was suprised to see him come out for the second half.  I just hope our heads don't go down as  we came very close.  McCarthy missed two sitters but at least he was getting in the right positions which is a start.
Title: Re: Kidderminster Match Thread
Post by: altyshop on September 04, 2010, 05:25:35 PM
Thought we were the better team but didnt get any luck today. Penalty was a joke and Mccarthy should have buried at least 1 of them chances, we cant afford to miss clear cut chances. Thought Smith played well, but once again Crowell was awful, what has happened to the lad from last season,if the management are getting shut of players Crowell along Joseph would be my first choice as we are carrying them at the minute, also Welch in my opinion is still far to heavy and unfit

I'm going to avoid being critical so i'm just going to make observations and ask questions.

McCarthy worked hard but doesn't look like a Conference player.
Why didn't Reeves start?
Joseph looks very vulnerable.
Hewson contributed very little (other than to get booked for diving in) when he came on but maybe needs time to blend in.
Spirited performance by Altrincham. Looked confident despite the run of results so far.
Where is Nicky Clee?
Good game for Coates. Maybe needs to develop a better understanding with his defenders.

Post by: Stan Hibbert on September 04, 2010, 05:41:46 PM
Just got back and can't disagree with any of what those who wen have said.

We deserved to win.

Joseph cost us the first goal and if he was in position the penalty incident wouldn't have occurred so in my opinion cost us the second too.

Jimmy should have had one but could easily have had a hatrick.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is how good Hewson could turn our to be. He looks like he's been eating well but once fully fit could be what we've been missing in midfield. He made acres of space for himself, can tackle, pass and has the vision for the through ball we've been missing. Hopefully, he's going to be a little gem..!

Disappointed with the result obviously but things are looking up.

We looked like a team with the exception of Joseph unfortunately.

Joseph - do us all a favour, when you leave the ground tonight dont come back.

Joseph is the biggest defensive liability that we've had at the club since Karl Munroe and Andy Scott.

Why on earth did Heathcote bring him on?

Or, more pointedly, why on earth did he sign him in the first place?

That was a golden opportunity to stop the rot against a distinctly poor team.

Mc has apologised for his misses today on Twitter.

He'll come good I reckon. Ok, so he's a bit lightweight and missed a couple of chances but he was there to miss them. When have we recently been able to say that our centre forward could have had a hatrick? He obvioulsy knows how to find space and he hit the target more time today than we have as a team all season.

The boy gets my vote anyway.

Welchy was knackered but surely Brown could have gone to left back, especially as he is a left back and Joseph isn't.... V strange substitution in hindsight

Ridiculous result. We had enough chances to win three games today, and four of which were the proverbial 'easier to score' kind.

I think there may be a sombre mood at the Meet The Recruits night. Oh, and surely this was Marc Josephs last game for us. Please!!

Joseph looks like he didn't know where he was playing, he was never covering the left wing, it wasn't like watching a typical bad player, he just seemed confused.

McCarthy seems to be a good attacker, but not a goalscorer.

Obviously very disappointed with the result but we battled well and created quite a few decent chances. I saw enough today to suggest that once we get a win under our belt things could turn around quickly. The one worry for me is left side of defence.

Not the best advert for the Conference but at least a few chances, which is more than you would have seen in our other games.

Obviously very disappointed with the result but we battled well and created quite a few decent chances. I saw enough today to suggest that once we get a win under our belt things could turn around quickly. The one worry for me is left side of defence.

Without sounding unneccesarily pessimistic can you honestly see where our next point is gonna come from let alone our next win?

How would you have phrased that question if you were being unnecessarily pessimistic?

Three points next week Gateshead away - Dead Cert

Followed by another three at Eastbourne and then another three at home to Barrow.

Followed by a point at home to Grimsby and three away at Kettering.

Simples ..............!!

I'm already looking forward to comparingthetables.com :D

Kiddy fan in peace.

We were awful, and you were much the same. A draw would have been the fair result in my opinion but I'm delighted we got the 3 points. Having said that I think we're both big relegation candidates and this fixture could easily be played in BSN next season.

The first half was probably the most boring 45 minutes I've ever seen and absolutely nothing happened except the one cross we had cleared off the line. The second half was a bit better because there were 3 goals. I think it tells a story when our two subs - Gittings and Blair - who are nowhere near Conference standard players (having been in the Southern League and fringe of Telford's side respectively last season), caused so many problems. Your goal was lucky but typical of our start to the season. It must be said that with a decent forward player you could have had 4 or 5. The penalty was very unlucky but we've had those given against us this season and these things tend to even themselves out.

I don't think I've ever been so angry after a win, but we were truly diabolical and any other BSP team could and would have knocked us for six. See you in BSN next year (if you don't get ANOTHER reprieve!)!

Came along to this as niether MUFC or FCUM were playing. Gutted you's lost, could have gone either way really. Hopefully things will turn round soon.

Bet you were even more gutted 24 hours later.
