Getting in to Trouble Without Alty...
« on: December 17, 2011, 10:29:13 PM »

So since our game was called off today, myself and Fatdog went to watch Bury vs Brentford (dull game). Anyway, we were nearly attacked in a greasy pizza shop (nice pizza) and standing in a crowd of Brentford fans we bravely tried (and failed) to start such chants as the Mcaliskey Macarana, What the Northwich Vics was that, Heathcote sign him up and you dirty northern b*stards.

Did anyone else have shenanigans without Alty to distract them?  :D

Woodley 2-1 Durham

True to form an ambulance was called for a very nasty head injury to the Durham capt.

Aaron Chalmers played right back for Woodley, not quite the level he thought was going to be playing!

Any more of these stories of 'Alty match off alternatives'? They're brilliant

I'm half inclined to call you all non-league fruitcakes but I'm a tad jealous so want to hear more!

A late 70s fixture at home, NPL, v Goole if I remember, a coachload of Sunderland fans arrived after their game at City, I think, was off.....how things change......they stood with us on the Golf Rd and roared away in support, marvellous it was, handy we play in red and white stripes!

A similar thing happened at Merthyr in the 90's when Swansea's match got called off. They had to segregate the ground three ways and the Swansea fans sung for Alty all game. At the end the Alty players went over and clapped the Swansea fans instead of us! I've been to plenty of random fixtures when Alty haven't been playing including Kings Lynn v Ilkeston,Tiverton v Gresley and Livingston v East Fife!

Myself & my two brothers went to watch Macc v Sutton, standing (natch) with the Sutton fans. George Shepherd (playing for Macc) was sent off in the first half and my youngest bro called him, loudly, a dirty sheepshagger, much to the annoyance of a nearby Macc yob who promptly went off and fetched about 25 similar morons to invite the bemused Sutton fans to call them sheepshaggers now!  The 3 of us quietly melted into the crowd.....

No such non-league joy for me.....with no radio robins to use as an excuse, I was forced to make a journey up the rectory (steady) to liberate some protestant holly and ivy

That would be a non-Alty ecumenical matter!
