I'd take 1-0 now if anybody offered it.

Sadly, I think they may have enough to beat us.

I will still be going, as I want to support my team

However, If the continual under-performances continue, then the manager deserves the "stick" he gets.

He so sure of himself, that he will never leave.

I just hope the team can raise themselves from the weekend and put in the performance we expect and deserve. If they do and we lose because of tactics! i.e. not picking your best team but your 'favourites' then the manager deserves the type of backlash he got yesterday.

Quite simply no it is not..

GH, Total and utter prat (as if we did not know that already!)

Not because of his actions, although they are completely out of order. I think the only person that wants him at this club is the chairman - who has his eyes on other things (his sons karting career!)

I don't doubt that GH has a knowledge of the Non-league and does thoroughly read the NL paper every week. But in all honesty to add to his gutteral demeanour, the guy is tactically inept!!

Where was Denham? Apparently the rumour was he's sick? Is that all they could come up with? At least be honest and tell us if he's still our player?

Where was Tierney? Has he not chased him for a while? He has played at a much better standard, does he not warrant a place in the squad?

Greg Young did well when he came on, make no bones. But if he is the choice ahead of Dale Johnson, then what message does that send out? Admittedly, Johnson has not been playing well, but he is a striker.

The subs were V strange as well!!! Doughty for Little, O' Neill to right wing??  I don't get it, how can the man justify his position? He has clearly lost the dressing room and the majority of the fans. The fans were quite right to sing what they did today and it should contninue until he finally gets the message!

We have 3 very tough games in the next 10 days. All of which we will be the underdogs in.. Hopefully the feelings of the crowd will not be lost on GH and he will finally do the decent thing and fall on his sword and leave this proud club, before he ruins it once and for all (although given his joviality in the bar after the game this is very unlikely)

Finally, well done to the lads today, a tough task against a stubborn team. We finally broke them down, but we are going to have to improve ten fold to stand a chance in the next 3 games. Lets hope the words of the captain in the match programme today ring true.

Hugh,

Not doubting your passion, but the time has come for change.

YOu say we turned it around last season - Did we?

I would say not, given we ended up in the bottom 4 of the league, exactly the same as we had the season before. With a squad largely made up on loanees and players that were simply not good enough. Yes, granted, we had a short time to prepare for the BSP after winning the AGM cup, but we still finished in the bottom 4.

Our current position is bad, yes we may win tomorrow and on Sat, but as had been said on another post, this is only papering over the cracks. The squad may be new, but the spine of the team is unaltered - Coburn, Young, Lawton, Little. The players we have brought in are good enough but we are not playing to their strengths.

Valid point...

This is going to roll on and on.

Personally, I would argue that GH was successful 3 years ago. Since then what have the stats been? (I'm sure Mr Cult could help us on that one)

Popular - With a section of the fans and obviously the board. Everybody I speak to who are Alty fans, generally want GH out. Everyone I speak to that have seen Alty, think GH is a liability to the team and directs his 'passion' in the worng direction. He's to predictable, has poor tactics, gets involved in silly altercations that he doesn't have to, has 'favourites' who are not the best players at the club.

You've done a good job GH, especially with the constraints you've had, now is the time to move aside and let somebody else take us forward. PLEASE, stop looking for votes of confidence as you'll undoubtedly get it. However, if you really care about Altrincham FC, do the decent thing and let somebody else take over. Nobody doubts that you love this club, but even you should know that the time has come to move over???

To Geoff Godwin,

Accept the mans resignation, promote GB to boss for some continuity and at least give the good players you have at this club a f***** chance before they all become to pi**ed off and clear off to a team that will give them a chance to express themselves..

Peake me I don't care - We were supposed to be more attacking and play an attractive style of football this season. 1 game vs Barrow lived up to it, Wrexham we competed. I'm sick of hearing we should have got something from the game. I watched the football show on Channel M last night and could have predicted that i'd hear We got a good draw against top of the league Salisbury - Anybody stood in the golf road end could do the same job GH does.

The simple facts are if you don't shoot - as happened again today, you don't score.... The gap at the bottom is getting wider already...

FFS - GH man up and stop looking for GG to give you a vote of confidence.

Moan, rant over

Very much 2 points lost. Salisbury were awful and Alty were only slightly better. Now not scored for 355 minutes and to be honest with the exception of 1 brilliant save by the Salisbury keeper, we don't look like scoring. So much for attacking endeavour!

Johnson - Doesn't seem interested and is not good enough at this level - In pre-season he looked a world beater, since the season started - very poor.

Why is Elam on the bench? Surely he is somewhere near fitness now? He was knocking  the ball around OK at half time... What's the problem? Anyone know?

Battersby - Unlucky to get pulled today - thought he looked pretty solid.

We just seem to lack invension - Only Denham had any real penetration today and was lucky to stay on (Cheeky left hook did make contact with their left back)

Overall - pleasing to keep a clean sheet, but more passion and belief is needed to keep us up...

After today's result I can't wait for Tuesday... I'm sure we'll all be in full voice!!

We have a real chance of 6 points from 6....

Like it was ever in doubt, but let's raise the roof....

I watched Barrow on Fri, despite the Oxford lad being sent off, Barrow still looked competent!

COME ON ALTY!!!!!

Co-incidentaly, I know that Stu is our No 1. but why has he only played a matter of minutes all pre-season?

Is he Injured?

Or just a machine that thinks pre-season is for wimps???

Hope he plays on Sat..

Good to see Danylyk getting a run out, who is Bradley Barnes? (Another trialist) Contrary to my previous post on another thread, maybe we're not settling for a 19 man squad..

2 - 1 now - Denham. He could be signing of the season in the BSP!!  :D

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: New Signing - See Main Site

I thought he looked pretty good on Saturday. Didn't give the ball away much and his distribution was good (Contrary to the Vale fans on the thread above!). Stalybridge didn't have the highest level of strikers and he'll come up against better in the BSP, but dealt with Hall (ex Oldham) pretty well once Young went off..

This is another good addition to the squad, I think we've probably reached our optimum level (19 players) but would love to see another full back come in to push Lane and Doughty, particularly after reading that York will run with 21 players this year (I suspect most full-time clubs will have 20+ players?!)

Still think we're a bit light on the defensive front.. Take it no deal could be done with Williams?? (Anybody know?)

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: The actual game today
« on: July 20, 2008, 07:23:08 PM »
I went into yesterday's game with a few doubts - thinking that we'd be a bit gung ho and too direct (Having read about our new attacking style of football on the last 2 match reports).

But in the first half I was pleasantly suprised,

Thought Street looked mobile in midfield, Doughty was OK at left back and linked up with Denham well - Although agree with Ballers, that there is much more to come from them.

Meechan - not in the game much, Is Right wing his best position?

Danylyk - looked a bit lightweight and I can't help think that the jump up in class may be a bit much for him. Of course he deserves a couple more chances before we all judge him - At least he put himself about a bit!

Coates - not the answer as a 2nd choice to Stu - Huge mistake for the 1st goal, but even after that seemed a little hesistant - and is it just me or is he really small for a GK?

My only other fear - personnel wise is that we need at least 1 other centre half - Laney and Greg looked OK there yesterday, but if there was an injury then who would slot in there? hopefully GH/GB have someone in mind?!

The style of football was appealing in that we retained possession well and knocked the ball about a bit. Johnson as a target man looked OK, if not a bit immobile - but I guess it is pre-season!

A pleasing 1st half, spoilt by the "Man U" fans in the 2nd half, with more attention focused on them, but overall not a bad start.

Sadly! won't be there Tues but will be at Stalybridge next Sat......
