I wonder if he could still do a bit away from the rigours of daily training? He's a local lad as well

Sounds like he's completely knackered unless he finds his miracle cure

Not neccessarily

Sometimes by not training every day or even less frequently but with the intensity of full time training  a player can extend their career in the part time arena

His Dad is ex-Wednesday..........famous for scoring one of the four goals in the legendary Boxing Day Massacre of 1979.

I suspect there might be insurance issues at stake, particularly if he retired through injury. Still, no harm in trying I guess.

Ignore the warning signs - Let's give him a two year contract.

He has told Preston he'll keep them informed of his progress with a view to returning if he ever recovers so it's unlikely but you never know.

He cant extend his playing career if he has said he cant play anymore unless there is a miracle cure.

He openly said his playing days are over.

I remember watching him play for Liverpool res against United res at Moss Lane and he was the best player on the Liverpool team. Think he scored a penalty but United won easilly.

Exactly- when you read this article, did you forget to read the word "retire"?
