Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Weymouth Match Thread
« on: March 14, 2009, 08:00:39 PM »
Good result today .. yeah we did take our foot off the pedal in the 2nd half but a job well done.. I spoke to their manager in the bar before the game and he didnt think they would get many, of any  points for the rest of the season.

I reckon 3 more points should do it for us now..

sh*t attendance again but I suppose the game at OT would have something to do with that.

I too hope Weymouth sort out their finances and manage to survive.. I thought the Weymouth players kept going and were a credit to their club..

Well done Alty on a professional job well done... Bring on FG next week...

Of the four games we have lost I think we were unlucky not to get at least a point against Stevenage and Torquay. I didnt see the Grays match but it was one of the games I expected us to win and I did think we may have got something at Kettering (again I didnt see that game).
I do think it shows the team have progressed in so much as we are all upset at losing to the likes of Stevenage and Torquay whereas last season we would have probably just written off those fixtures as a loss..

Its no good blaming GH as his hands are tied due to the financial situation at the football club ..

I have said it on here before, and that is why we keep pumping high balls up to the likes of Little and Senior is beyond me We would be far better if Coburn just threw the ball to a player and built from the back rather than him keep booting up the pitch and give it straight back to the opposition as happens with monotonous regularity. When Oneil came on against Torquay we probably played the best football of the match due to the fact  we kept the ball on the deck..

With our current small squad of players I do not understand the logic of sending out Denham to Stalybridge when he would be more use to playing at ML even if he comes off the bench. From what I have seen of him this season he seems  a decent player..

IMO i think a win against Weymouth tomorrow and  another 3 pts during the remaining games taking us to 49 would see us safe for the season..  What we dont need,  is having to win at Cambridge on the last Sunday of the season in order to stay up.......

I agree on both counts there. I'm not sure Setanta have a clue what they're doing in many areas. To receive their channels your satellite should be at a slightly different angle to the Sky one, something they neglected to tell any customers for 2 years
[/quote]

Not sure that is correct .. I have the full sentanta package and I get good pics and i didnt have any need for my sky dish to be adjusted..

I am still in shock from last night.  Not the team performace which I though was pretty good and if we had taken our chance we would have beaten moneybags Kettering.

The shock for me was the fact that people still wear Burberry caps, and 40 year old men stand right next to the stewards goading Alty fans, who posses quite the least fearsome "mob" in the non league game.  The chances of us coming "to join you over there" were slim to be honest.

Or the shock that 60% of the Kettering chants were anti Alty...

Or worse than that...when the leader of the chavs, "El Jogging Bottomio" actually put his hands in rings around his eyes to mimic some of our fans that had glasses on.  Not seen that since 1989.

It was like going back in time...stood on a sandpit looking at the people you don't want your kids to grow into.  It was like Neighbours from Hell, the musical.

Next season, I'll stand in the rain.

Mark ...You must have forgot to put your watch back 20 years when you entered Northampton mate... :D

Very true OGC  the likes of Torquay, Burton, Oxford, Rushden, Histon & Cambridge  etc etc have been on bleeding telly more times than Coronation Street just lately..   Strange how most of the clubs featured are from the South..  It will be interesting to see if Sentanta will send their Truck to Moss lane this season or whether we have dipped out due to the weather and re-arranged fixtures...

The girl who works in the snack bar told me they lose about 300 quid a match due to having no chips.. That alone would pay half the bill for the electric supply to be sorted if you sell 300 quids worth each game at home....  Could we not get barney to chuck em over the wall when he has cooked em.... ;) :)
