Most of you know my previous allegiance.
Ex Man Utd until 1974, virtually from 3-4 years old to 17, where I switched to Alty and a less intimidating atmosphere. Still retain a soft spot for United, see them as and when I get tickets - and Alty not at home/playing or if I am away with Alty on odd occasions this season. Much more suited to non-league football because of friendly banter, love of the game, and most importantly the closeness between club/fan - players even. How can you see MUFC players in the bar after the game unless you are more than just a small cog in a big wheel. Going to Alty, is the most major part of my social life other than my family/friends/work.
Interesting point to note - what if Sale formed a new football club - Sale is actually my home town from birth, apart from 4 years in Warrington Birchwood after I married. Sale is a rugby town but even if this happened, sorry but you cannot replace my 37th season at Alty with any new kids on the block. Funny though, but before I quit MUFC I never thought of going to Alty until a new mate from college asked if I wanted to go with him. Just a - what if - thought guys, and possible point for discussion from my thought process whilst typing message.
As everyone else says, it just gets in your blood.
OK OK! I'll go to bed now - cant sleep - again!!!
