Gazelle, I will be at Woking, probably going by car and will have Robbie with me.
I have been there the last 3 seasons and have always managed to get into their club bar which
is situated inside the groung although the season before last they didnt let Rocky and JTH in before the
match (maybe its a Jock Free Zone)

Please can we get off Liam's case once and for all.
The lad had made his decision at this moment in time to join another club so lets just respect it.
I dont recall either Liam or Alty "shutting the door and bolting it permanently" which is what some "fans" on this forum are intent on doing.
Unfortunately Alty's history isnt that of a local team with local heros.
I can reall many Alty lads that were good footballers but didnt get past trials for the Robins, when the first team squad was full of Scousers (I am
referring to days when we didnt have either a Youth Team or Reserve side).
Liam is an Alty lad and I wish him the best.

Woking is also my second closest, after Creapy Crawley.
I am very disappointed that we play at Eastbourne on 30AUG as its the one Saturday I cannot make it and was looking forward to both Eastbourne and Lewes away. I am in the middle of an FA Coaching course and that Saturday is a practical day that is compulsory to attend.

Graham Barrow was intervied on the Radio on Wednesday, I think on Southern Counties Radio. When Manager at Bury, he gave Colin Kazim-Richards his first game of League Football, the Striker seen playing for Turkey in Euro 2008, .

I was at both those games at Rotherham in the FA Cup. In 1977 our Goalkeeper was Tommy Cavanagh the son of Man United's Assistant Manager of the same name. I also went to the FA Trophy Semi Final Replay against Scarborough at Millmoor when we drew 0-0. It was at the end of the 1976/77 season that our fortunes began to change and we were on the verge of having our most successful period in our history. The team that won at Rotherham in the FA Cup would have beaten any team outside the old Second Division and were unlucky to be knocked out of the Cup that season by Orient (now, and previously known as Leyton Orient).

I drove up from Redhill for the FA Cup tie against Millwall. I parked on Acacia Avenue which is off Moss Lane and faces the entrance to the Golf Road End. There was plenty of parking along Acacia Avenue and that was for our biggest gate of the season.

Is Liam related to the Brownhills that lived on the Broomwood ?
I knew a lad of that name who would now be in his early fifties and think he was called Gary ?

I dont remember a full coach load of Sunderland fans being at an Alty match, but it is possible.
There was a faimily from Sunderland that lived at the top of top of Sandileigh Avenue right opposite the ground, called Robison, there were 6 or 8 kids. They came to Alty in the late 1960's. The three eldest lads reamained Sunderland fanatics. Derek, use to sell programmes with me outside the main stand at Moss Lane in the early 1970's. In the early 70's Sunderland were in the old second division, until they got Promotion under Bob Stokoe.  In the late 1970's the Robisons had a lot of relatives that came down for local matches. I remember quite a few of them being in the Moss Hotel one weekend. Bob Stokoe was famed for winning the FA Cup for Sunderland while they were still in the second division in 1973 - and infamous for being the Rochdale Manager when we were cheated out of a League place in 1980.

I remember that night at the Belle Vue Ground and have had a liking for Donny Rovers ever since. It really shut up those Scarboro fans.
Still even with that muscle behind us, one of the toughest lads in Alty in that era, got a broken nose that night.

I'm looking forward to the season after next - against Macc in the BSP as Northwich will be either relegated or liquidated next season- If Macc are also not liquated before then.

We got no sympathy at all from Halifax fans in 1981 when they avoided relegation from the old Division 4 at our expence through a sytem that was unjust and undemocratic.
All we are doing now is accepting a situation to our advantage, we are doing nothing wrong, like we they did nothing wrong in 1981 when were Champions but were not promoted.
The only difference is that Halifax's current situation is their own fault not ours, but in 1980 and 1980 we were dealt the short straw through no fault of our own.

According to my Crawley Town supporter mate at work, Crawley got away with 0.5p to the £
The over 25% needed to vote against Halifax worries me as that indicates the Taxman does not have the clout to wind up Halifax.
Another food for thought is that local businesses listed may not want the bad publicity of being part of winding up the local Football Club.
I have a nasty feeling Halifax are going to get away with this just like the example set in letting off Crawley from a similar situation and only relatively recently.

I also remember going there on a Saturday afternoon in the 70's - the day United played a home friendly against Glasgow Rangers.
When we left Moss Lane it was a nice Sunny Day and no coats needed.
When we got to Buxton I have never been so cold. It was cold, windy and a snow blizzard - many Alty fans didnt leave the bar it was so cold.
I think we won that match.

I have just this minute come back from my first visit to Leatherhead as I had to go the offices of the Surrey FA
I was thinkg of that day on my way there - Didnt realise it was 30 years ago - probably due to decades of lying about my age !!
We went down to Wembley on a coach we hired with all the regualrs from the Vault of the Moss Hotel (next to the Ground)
Great day out - most memorable moment was Kingy's goal and his celebration
