Clearly it's up to how we perform on Saturday, but this is a blow for them. Sounds very nasty, but anyone at both games with NFU won't be surprised.

But I would walk 100 along the Great Wall of China for the Alzheimers Society. If you've got a few quid spare you'd earmarked for a Mickleover Sports enamel badge you could always follow the link below. Cheers!

PS I've paid my way over there etc, all money raised goes to The Alzheimer's Society.

The New Saints' chairman Mike Harris says "The Welsh Cup and the FA Cup have similar status, both get into Europe. I don't quite see the English system as a higher platform, I see it as an equal platform, but with a bigger population and bigger crowds... We've clearly stated we have no interest in the English place in Europe should we win the competition... just like we hope that the FAW wouldn't give one of our cherished places to an English-playing club if they were to win the Welsh Cup'".

Quality stuff  :D

JL match update 2nd half - "Alty trying but Hyde a better team". Next season starts now Lee, with some big budgets coming into this league we need to make sure we can match Hyde's dealings this year.

Workington v Biship's Stortford

all 22 players, plus both benches and members of the 377-strong crowd get involved in the melee

A quality read.

PS it was a penalty by the way - ask the Blyth players.

Altrincham FC First Team / TINPOT

Acceptable use: ironic reference to Conf North in the vein of ex league club fans' view of Conference Premier.
Unacceptable use: e.g. "losing a 2 goal lead in this tinpot league". A league which is almost completely part-time (like us), where most gates are sub 1,000 (like us), where teams can recruit players who play not just for the cash and get results through hard work and organisation (like us in the league above for the past 5 years).

Sluggish start and plenty for the mangement to work on, but hardly panic stations. Still think we've every chance of a good season.

All will be aware of the reduced budget and wgaes. Down to the new manager to decide who he sees doing a job for us in the BSN. Got to be good news given those highlights of the Telford - Guiseley game where Meechan, O'Neill and Peyton were on show eh?

Maybe its the creeping insomnia, but having looked at the results since GH departed and news of tonight's fighting display which was so absent at Blyth, I'm suddenly feeling all optimistic. Even if you include that Eastbourne game, I make Ken's League record as P17 W5 D6 L6 Pts 21. That works out at about 1.24 points per game, which, if averaged out across a full 46 game season would total 57 points - good enough for a respectable lower mid table finish. I'm not suggesting we'll hit the heady heights of 14th or 15th, but statistically at least, we've been showing that type of form since mid September.

Right more sums to do to try and get to sleep..

A Godfrey Abbot supporters coach leaves the Vine at 13:50 at an average speed of 55 mph on the way to Chorley and gets lost in roadworks for 35 mins, at what time does it arrive at Victory Park? Assuming Hugh Cooper arrived at kick off (3pm), by the time the coach arrives how many laps of the perimeter fence has he circumvented whilst being pushed in a shopping trolley at 8 mph? Multiply this sum by the number of cans consumed by Rocky Robin on his journey from Liverpool Street to Cheshunt (journey time 25 mins, allow additional 5 mins for general unpleasantness at Tottenham Hale, RR's cannage rate 1 per 5.8 miles).

selected quotes:-

"Accrington Stanley have been given eight weeks to pay back £308,000 to the Inland Revenue or face closure......... after being served with a winding up order in May for unpaid taxes "

"Chief executive Rob Heys told BBC Radio Lancashire: "Over the last few weeks the Revenue have become pushy and want their money back, which is fair enough."

beggars belief..

The Alty players' reactions following the third goal was absolutely disgusting. At the end of the night I found myself drawing comparisons between them and Manchester United.

Cheers djfdj, thanks for that. Reminds me of a Barnet fan in the 80s who 'insulted' us by exclaiming "you wear AC Milan's kit and you play like them" - Van, Basten, Gullitt, Kilner....
