the problem with climate change is population but it sells better to middle england to sell energy reducing lightbulbs and reclycle cardboard rather than suggest that if they really want to make a difference they shouldnt have kids.

I believe that Climate change / global warming/ global bollocks, is actually cyclical  and will sort itself out over the next decades..

I dont expect you all to agree with that statement but that is my personal opinion

I thank you  ;)

PS My Lib Dem vote seems to have been a bit of a waste of time, although they actually knocked  Labour into 3rd place in sleepy Shrewsbury.
(A third place that Shrewsbury football club would have coveted in lge 2)  :D

The fact that people never got to vote for reasons out of there control is disgraceful and that should be looked into by the electoral commission immediately...
It was like watching a fkn third world country seeing those poor people queuing up in the rain only to be told that they couldnt vote.......

I voted no in the union ballot for the laughable pay 'increase' we've been offered - does that count?  I've taken a 10% hit this year and I'm taking no bloody more.

I would have voted Green but we didn't have a candidate, that one reason why a form of PR is top of the reform agenda.

The tories are the pits - sorry but their social policies stink.  Get married and they give you £150 per year. I know a lady whose husband had affairs, walked out & left her with the kids.  He subsequently got remarried...and is now in line to be rewarded. She, as a single parent is viewed as the bottom of the heap by many tories (including the tory creature who described single parents as "disgusting" to my face). Free market capitalists who will try and cure the ills of free market capitalism by giving us more free market capitalism.

Labour - moved too far to the right.  Sucking up to big business will always come back and bite you on the arse.  The economic woes are down to the banks and their cororate greed.  Heavy regulation of the industry and others is well overdue.  Big business only knows how to take, the 'market' demands ever increasing profit, work harder, pay less, squeeze the supplier, lower quality but a better PR dept.  I strongly suggest you read The Ragged Trousered Philantropists for a very good description of the the Great Money Trick. Free market capitalists who will try and cure the ills of free market capitalism by giving us more free market capitalism.

Lib Dems - under the current voting system this is a waste of time in many areas.  Policy wise they sound OKish, but voting for them is like putting a handle on an egg ~ pointless.  Free market capitalists who will try and cure the ills of free market capitalism by faffing about on the edges.

So...until we get PR we're going to be stuck with the same old failed system of the free market, the same old 'markets' calling the tune and once again the poor sod at the bottom of the heap coughing up to feed the rich.  And I mean that on a national and an international scale.

When we've sorted all that lot out I'd kick the 'royal' family out on their arses too.

Rant Over!

Agree with York Alty. I would have voted Green had there been a candidate.
And what was the reason we couldn't have a Nordic model again? Too densely populated? Makes no sense. The Netherlands are densely populated and have high minimum wage and high public spending.
Altrincham and Sale is a pocket of what has gone wrong - e.g. people in 4 x4 s driving past Hale station with one crap train per hour from the 70s.
Hopefully Labour will go to the left and then we can have proper social democracy.

Jennifers Dad - read what I said again. I voted Green in the hope of getting a voice representative of the working class, i.e. a socialist. Half expected you to make an appalingly obvious pun about it, but instead you didn't even recognise what I was saying. And yeah I have read their manifesto, take you're patronising sh*t elsewhere yeah?

York Alty, jiminlondon, the real voices of reason.

The flaming Lib Dems around here (Wimbledon) mounted a campaign against Labour who had targeted this seat... 34th on their list and was Labour in 97.....they incorrectly published leaflets saying they were second last time..they weren't...and attempted to defend the closure of a local  hospital, outside the constituency, that isn't actually closing.

End result, a split Labour/Liberal vote and a shoe in for the Tory prat who will now vanish into nowhere for 5 years like last time.

Cambridge Alty, JD makes many puns and jokes on here, it is his way. He is also by my estimation a very intelligent and articulate bloke, who is entitled to make his statements and express opinions without judgement. Comedians are not necessarily Jesters you know.

Jennifers Dad is my top poster.  Comments with wit, thought & knowledge.  I don't mind if I think they are wrong - the debate is what counts sometimes.

If we had a poll of fave contributors on here I'd vote JD.
