Altrincham FC First Team / From FCUM Website : Their loss, our gain
« on: September 11, 2010, 12:14:30 PM »
FC United is disappointed to inform supporters that Colin Little is to leave the club. Pressures of Colin’s coaching role has meant that he cannot commit the necessary time he feels he needs to to justify his inclusion in the squad.

Manager Karl Marginson said: “It’s a big shame, especially given the quality he brings. He’s genuinely disappointed that he can’t spend longer with us but he said to me it wasn’t fair to other players just to dip in and out of training and matches as when he was available. I understand he’s considering a more casual offer nearer his home.”

Everyone at FC United wishes Colin all the best for the future.

Altrincham FC First Team / BSP Today.....stories
« on: August 31, 2010, 01:58:10 AM »
Unfortunately, with a lot of the better supported teams all being at home, we had the lowest attendance of the day. However Kidderminster must be worried registering under 1300 for a Bank Holiday.

Worse still for Kiddy, they had that lumbering centreback Albrighton sent off today. Reevesy and McCarthy can look forward to going home next Saturday with their cheekbones still in one piece.

Crawley also had two sent off, the keeper again and their new big money signing from Alfreton. Forest Green also lost two players in the same game. I bet Evans was outside the refs door until 6pm.

Altrincham FC First Team / Adam Carden
« on: August 06, 2010, 12:36:10 PM »
Shame about Adam's release - looks like he is a victim of the need to balance the books after bringing in players in key positions.

I am sure we all wish him well for the future...........always looked 100% committed to me. A good squad player with the right attitude.

Altrincham FC First Team / It's all going to end in tears......
« on: July 05, 2010, 10:46:05 PM »
For some !
Several BSP clubs are spending a fortune if articles in the press (replicated on the Official site) are true. Only two clubs can go up so there will be some major disappointments.
Of course, as is the norm, several of the big spenders won't actually have the money and will be gambling on success......let's hope they all draw each other in the cup competitions and don't get the paybacks they are gambling on

Altrincham FC First Team / AGM Yesterday
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:10:35 PM »
The AGM was held yesterday in Southport. Does anyone know if anything 'out of the ordinary' happened ?

Presumably Forest Green were handed the coveted AGM Trophy ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Vics appeal heard today at Wembley
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:13:07 PM »
From the Vics official whopper site :-

The decision on the Vic's appeal against expulsion from the Blue Square North has been deferred.

The FA will first hear the appeal from Salisbury City on Wednesday morning, who are fighting against relegation from the Blue Square Premier under similar circumstances.

However, the outcome of Salisbury's appeal may not be made known until Friday morning, which could delay further the announcement of the decision concerning the Vics.

Northwich Victoria's Chairman Jim Rushe spoke about the meeting today on his return from Wembley:

"The case has been delayed until the Salisbury case is heard tomorrow morning, as both cases are very similar. We may not have a decision until Thursday or even Friday morning.

Howard Roberts put a very strong case forward for us and I remain buoyant and optimistic we will be successful."

Seems to me the FA don't want to evict Vics today and prejudice the Salisbury hearing. On Friday they will hopefully do the right thing and can 'em both.

Altrincham FC First Team / Ashton United - Marcus Hallows case
« on: May 28, 2010, 12:57:56 PM »
It appears that Ashton have lost their legal appeal to turn over the ruling against them in the Ashton vs Marcus case.............they don't have the means to pay up, so who knows what happens next

Altrincham FC First Team / FGR & Jim Harvey
« on: May 22, 2010, 11:54:40 AM »
Main web site reports that the employment dispute between Mr Harvey and Forest Green Rovers has been settled ahead of the official tribunal.

It's funny how the press statement starts with the words "The club, without admission of liability, has agreed " and then goes on to say the settlement includes 'compensation', an employment reference, which I presume has been drafted by Jim Harvey himself, followed by comments within the press statement which effectively says "Jim was and still is a good manager"

Do you get the feeling that FGR thought they were on to a loser here with this tribunal and at the last minute thought they had better back-down and sort it out behind closed doors before their dirty washing and poor treatment of Mr Harvey was aired in public.
Hopefully it cost 'em a decent sum.

Altrincham FC First Team / Reprieves all round
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:23:13 PM »
Harrogate Town and Vauxhall Motors have not been relegated from the BSN (pending AGM). It appears that they have benefited from no BSP clubs being relegated to BSN (after the demise of Chester City) and Vics getting the well deserved boot. Both clubs had more points than the bottom two BSS clubs so would get the nod before them.

Similarly Worcester have not been relegated from BSS and have been moved to BSN (pending AGM) because of what looks like Grays not taking a place in the division.

Altrincham FC First Team / Vics come into money?
« on: May 16, 2010, 07:45:27 PM »
The front page of the NLP says that Vics will take the Conference to the European courts if they are thrown out of the BSN for failing to comply with the competition rules (again)

Funny how it is always the clubs that have no money to pay off debts, that then find some to toss in a barrister's direction

Altrincham FC First Team / No surprise here - Vics
« on: May 12, 2010, 08:38:44 PM »
No surprise to us, but the Conf have written to Vics advising them that their deadline to pay off their debts in full has now expired. I assume this means they will be expelled.

As expected a lot of the Vics fans are up in arms and seem to think everyone is against them.

Most don't seem to have grasped the point of Conf Rule Appendix E either. Many seem to think that because they have agreed a CVA with their creditors, then this equates to paying off your debts in full. Hence what's the problem with the Conf. Of course a CVA just means coming to a compromise payment as an alternative to the company being wound up (with the creditors getting nothing).

Paying 100% of the debt off is now the Conf rule. The level agreed as a CVA under UK law has no bearing on the rules. The whole thing is designed to stop teams over-achieving with money they don't have and then going into Admin and yet staying in the same league. It is an incentive to prevent debt, knowing that unless you can pay it all back, then admin won't save you anymore. The Vics fans just don't get it.

I assume Salisbury might be in the same boat

Altrincham FC First Team / Attendances
« on: April 25, 2010, 08:51:54 PM »
I get the seasons average home (league) attendance to be 1095.......still over the thousand mark, so good in some ways considering the competition with United and City on a big screen, but still needs to increase if the club is going to improve.

As others have said previously - a decent cup game would work wonders - hopefully at home to Sheffield Wednesday next season (winning the replay at Hillsborough)
