Altrincham FC First Team / Fixtures and away travel
« on: July 06, 2011, 09:22:05 PM »
Sorry if this has been covered......not had the time to read the backlog of threads.......but we only have two midweek away fixtures next season and they are both local (Colwyn Bay and Vauxhall) meaning no long afternoon journeys for the players and no time off work for many of us hoping to attend......this BSN thing has some advantages   ::)

Now let's hope it doesn't snow all Dec, Jan and Feb this year !

Altrincham FC First Team / Ref in the limelight
« on: May 04, 2011, 01:37:07 AM »
Anybody watch the BBC1 documentary tonight called the 'Lock-up'..........it follows the working lives of the Humberside police who must deal with the many drunken yobs who get themselves locked up in the cells overnight

The 'tough but fair' custody sergeant, who was the undoubted star of show, was none other than Mr West of BSP fame !

Altrincham FC First Team / Another Football League disgrace

Plymouth Argyle (in Admin) offer 0.77 pence in the pound to their creditors .......they owe almost £18M........more incredible financial control from the Football League

Interesting to see what happens if they go bust !

Altrincham FC First Team / Hockaday's hearing
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:17:22 AM »
Hockaday praises the FGR fans for their 'full voice' on Saturday.......is he getting confused and thinking we were backing FGR or does he seriously consider the 20 lads behind the goal as 'full voice' from about 700 home supporters......then again it is all kidology with managers I suppose

Altrincham FC First Team / Bandy
« on: March 26, 2011, 07:58:20 PM »
Mrs Band has been too modest to tell us, but Bandy has been promoted to Assistant Manager at Woodley - well done and good luck.

Altrincham FC First Team / Jimmy Quinn - Nantwich Town
« on: February 17, 2011, 12:36:03 PM »
Nantwich appoint Jimmy Quinn as Director of Football......can't see this being done by JQ for no pay, but at the same time cannot see how Nantwich could possibly afford this either ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Reeves
« on: January 18, 2011, 08:37:27 PM »
Some on here wanted rid of Reeves in late August........to quote one of our frequent correspondents......."far too lightweight for a striker in this league".........others on here gave him a chance  :)

Couldn't get much worse for them......lost 8-0 at home last night against Witton in front of 59 people.
Not too long ago we played them (then a Conf side) in the FA Trophy

Altrincham FC First Team / CSC tonight

CSC game tonight Woodley Sports vs Witton.........attendance 31 people !

Clubs should surely not be losing money to play in this competition ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Fleetwood

Fair play to them................not seen a "no disrespect to Altrincham, but we should be beating the bottom club" type quote yet

I also thought they were not your typical over-physical Conference bully boys. They played it fair and looked like a good passing side. We were able to close them down and restrict their scoring opprtunities to only a few real chances. Good sides usually play badly when they are made to do so by the opposition !

I thought their following of 246 was a respectable one as well and without trying to sound like I am licking their a**e, I think they are welcome back.

Altrincham FC First Team / Welcome FA Cup news !
« on: September 29, 2010, 12:19:39 PM »
Vics lost their FAC QR2 replay at home last night to Sheffield FC. So no big TV game for them this season.

The only reason I mention it was I was throughly p***ed off last season (and jealous). They were able to get big TV coverage when they should not have even been allowed to enter the competition following their disgraceful behaviour when they refused to pay the share of the gate to another club. I believe they withheld payment for almost 6 months and in the end the fans paid it.

I think the FA have yet to release the TV money to Vics so far.......

Altrincham FC First Team / Attendances tonight

Usual poor stuff at FGR and Hayes, but the absolute shocker tonight was 928 at Rushden and Diamonds ! ::)

Altrincham FC First Team / There is a chance
« on: September 11, 2010, 06:49:32 PM »
A few points :-
I was not at the game today so cannot comment. According to previous match reports Gateshead murdered Southport in the week......a team who were flying high until then. So it's no surprise to me we got beat there today (although I was expecting a point).

If we can turn things around and put some points on the board, then it won't take much to get out of the bottom four.

The majority of the people of the town don't value the club and hence home support is poor. This is the core problem and I cannot see it changing.

Many 'posters' on here were far to optimistic (bordering on the ridiculous) after last season, making this seasons very poor start seem far worse than it actually is. Gateshead were in a very similar position 5 days ago.

It's not over yet.
